Does being on an award ticket impact your upgrade status vs lower tiers? E.g., if I'm EP on an award ticket would that still process before PlatPro?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I searched and didn't find anything. On domestic routes on the new A321XLR will complimentary upgrades clear into premium economy if available? Just booked SFO-JFK for a flight this summer on the new plane; hoping to get out of the non-reclining MCE seats into PE or J with a comp upgrade. Wife and I are both EP so we might have a shot.

No idea how it works for PE. I'd imagine if biz is full but PE has seats open you'd be upgraded at the gate? |

Many open J seats in AA 107 (LHR-JFK) on a Saturday 2 weeks ago. I was surprised to see the plane leave with at least 4-5 J seats open and not being filled with employees etc.

Poor SWU clearance algorithm
Tomorrow I'm on LAX-SYD. I'm trying to use a SWU to go from J to F. Flight is F7 (was F6 until two days ago) and the SWU still hasn't cleared. I wanted to pre-order food but I guess that won't happen. Of course they are still selling the upgrade ($2,500 for AA First one way from paid J, no thanks!)

CLT -> MSP tomorrow cleared T-26. 405ish LPs.
Gonna try the short-ribs - so rare I'm on a flight long enough there's a meal up front (most commonly CLT to GRR or ORD - neither is long enough). Was last April last time - sliders were excellent. |
