Cleared DCA-MIA yesterday. 23 hours before flight, 3 seats in biz left, 8 hours in advance just 1. Believe I was the only one to clear (EP with 300k LP).
|
I had a PHL to CLE one way last week and CLE to PHL one way this week that cleared at ~99 hours 56 minutes. Hardly an elite heavy route, but I was still surprised as ~26 hours or right before boarding has been more common for me lately. EXP, 300k LPs.

1/26/26 AA276 SFO-JFK: 2/10 on the list after switching onto the flight 15 minutes before boarding, ultimately taking the last seat on the plane (MCE middle). Ended up having 2 no shows and I got upgraded right before the doors closed. Felt very very good to get that notification.
1/28/26 AA4627 LGA-DCA: Upgraded at T-27. 7 people on the list for 2 seats. 1/30/26 AA2687 DCA-CLT: I was 3/21 on the list for 6 seats and I cleared at the gate. 1/30/26 AA2651 CLT-SFO: Upgraded at T-11. 24 people on the list for 3 seats. |
How do you know what your rolling LPs are?

You can filter the website to show activity between two dates. This is also possible on the app, but it never works for me. You can also dump into Excel and use GPT etc. to clean it up if you’re interested in how you earned the LPs.
When I see it mentioned, I thought it was some tab that AA provided that I wasn't aware of. |

I made platinum late last year (mid December). I have just been upgraded to F for flight LGA-DCA on 02/07/26. This is the 2nd upgrade I have received since becoming platinum.

Anyone have any recent experience with the kangaroo routes? Heading over for a work trip and they will only pay for premium economy. Traveling June/July. I can specify airline. Planning to upfare to biz rather than chance it as an Exec Plat with 225 loyalty points.
Question is: how hard is it to get a SWU to clear LAX-SYD on AA from C-->F. Expert flyer is showing 7+ upfront and nothing is taken on seat map (biz also wide open). If its hard is it better to just fly on QF metal? I imagine service will be much better, but the AA F seat would tip the scales if we clear. |

7/34 on waitlist having 300 LP This used to be an easy route for an EP, but really no one cleared except that two seats opened up due to no shows so two cleared after boarding completed - EP sitting next to me was one of them and gave his seat away to the stranger next to us in the middle seat because he was already settled in and didn’t feel like moving at this point (totally get it). Happy me because now the middle seat was empty. The statistics below is what gets me: J6 about a week before flight with app offer around $100 - no comp seats released at window because they never are on this route until 24hrs J3 at T-26 hours - no comps released During checkin (at T-14 hours) I was offered $93 to upgrade. I did not take it thinking I should clear with J3 still open. I ended up 7 on the WL which eventually went to J0 and no one cleared (as I could see and tracked the WL now - same guy stayed on top). In summary: at least 7+ EPs with over 300k LPs (maybe some CKs) waited for comp upgrades and instead all seats went to those who paid $100 during the comp window or $93 at check-in. Then two comps went out only due to the two no shows. |

4/27 for 0 seats. ~350k rolling LPs. They did come calling for #1, so I guess there was a no show. Airport is super crowded this morning as well as the plane. You'd think we had a golf tournament here this weekend! |

So you have reached EP and an upgrade came your way for $100, but you declined it and are now ticked off because someone else who wanted an upgrade purchased it? How does that make sense to you? My last trip last year to Barbados, the upgrade offer at one point was a little over $400. I declined it because I was hoping it would drop to <$400. It never did. It went from $400 to $700+ and on up. Clearly someone purchased at the $400 level. How could I be ticked off that AA decided to get some cash. Good for them. |
$93 DCA/MIA I'd jump on in a second. I usually get paid upgrades on that route between $150 and $250. I understand that money is tighter for others, particularly if you're raising a family. But this is the new reality.

Like you, I would have grabbed that $93 in a heartbeat. Currently, the offer for LAS -CLT mid March is $1,172. I don't know what AA is thinking, but good for them if they can get someone to ante up. If they do, I can't be mad at them. Because this is a business trip and my company paid for the Y class ticket, I'm will to go as high as $300 for this segment. |
