Last night DFW/MIA A321 even with the flight leaving nearly an hour late six very lucky people got upgraded due to no shows/misconnects. Christmas came a few days early for them.

Quick question for the group: Within 24 hours can you still be upgraded without being checked in? I have a minor on their own PNR with an upgrade requested but cannot check-in online due to being on the solo rez.

What are people seeing in terms of SWU's clearing at "random" points, meaning months ahead of travel date? I've booked PHL-NCE at the end of May, returning LHR-MIA for two of us and hoping my SWU's that expire Mar. 31 will clear before I lose them. I'm hoping NCE at the end of May will be a decent chance, given it's ahead of season there and not sure how many will be purchasing premium seats on PHL-NCE ahead of season.

Eyeing a trip to Brasil in late Feb 2026. Looking at Feb 19,

• AA 963 (DFW-GRU / 789) has 7/30 J seats occupied.
• AA 929 (MIA-GRU / 77W) has 2/52 J seats occupied
• AA 965 (MIA-GRU / 772) has 0/36 J seats occupied (1A is blocked for pilot rest)

Any thoughts on which one to use for 2 passengers to use SWUs based on any history? All are C0 right now.

I fly DCA-RSW and RSW-DCA regularly. The last 3 times RSW-DCA was upgraded to first at the gate around 30 minutes before departure. Never DCA-RSW as I am way down on the list. Do people go to Florida and don't come back? I am Platinum with 85K

Not speaking from direct experience, but I would book the 77W given the number of seats. Aside from fewer seats, the 772 is likely the later GRU flight and could have seats snapped up if passengers misconnect from the earlier flight (matters if your upgrade comes down to the gate). Are you going to keep a single PNR or split?

What days of the week and times are you flying? That will have a lot to do with it. Consider yourself lucky to be getting any comp upgrades at all as a Plat!

I looked at booking J, but they want 9k. Lol not a chance.

Dec 24th: DCA - JFK. I got upgraded to Dom First. First time I have ever been upgraded.

BGI-MIA: I purchased the upgrade. There were 7 on the waitlist for 1 seat. The seat was given to the daughter of a FA working the flight. She wasn't on the waitlist for business class.

Ord to sfo today. 3 exp plat all on separate records. Were 3 4 5 on upgrade list. One cleared at gate. Next time I take the 200 upgrade offer.

I hope you immediately sent a note to AA on this. Person #1 on the list got screw.

I didn't. TBH, it didn't occur to me to do so.

Upgraded at the gate, DCA RSW, Platinum with 85K. 1/5, 3pm departure. Flight was only 2/3 full.
