More flights, more upgrades. Today:

DEN-MIA, A321, Tuesday, ~1230pm: SWU cleared off waitlist at about 6 days before the flight
MIA-GRU, 772, Tuesday, 950pm: SWU cleared about 3 weeks before the flight (by calling in when I noticed availability on AA.com)

are the waitlist sbroken today, or is it just my flight? No waitlist in the app and no waitlist at the gate....

never mind, they said all of their systems are down and boarding by hand... In.phx

I went 3 for 3 today, continuing a remarkable run of consecutive upgrades as a barely EXPlat.

I was #2 out of 5 for two seats, and I and #1 cleared immediately prior to boarding. This flight was heavy with paid F and paid upgrades. Three F seats were left beginning a week before the flight up until t-24, and two seats remained this morning. The waitlist was showing 0 F seats available since it populated at t-12, but there were two F seats available for purchase all-day and right up until departure. I'm not sure why the app waitlist continued to show 0 seats available when there were two seats available in F the whole time. I am finding that the number of seats shown on the app is often inaccurate for upgrades.

I paid 6,000 miles for this itinerary, so getting F on all three made it an even more spectacular redemption value. One stop options through CLT and DCA required considerably more miles at the time of booking.

LGA-ORD zeroed out 5 days out when I booked, 11/52 with 1 clearing at the gate

ORD-LGA after a slew of delays, seats started opening up, was 3/18, 1&2 seemed to be auto upgraded 30 minutes before the latest rolling delay. A standby cleared and moved up to #1, then myself and 4 cleared right at boarding.

The counter didn’t show the confirmed standby on the list, but rather the initial list, while the waitlist showed them still at #1.

11/28 DFW-SJD AA2432. Numbers 8/9 out of 27. 1 cleared at gate. Was a CK who let his daughter sit in J and him in Y as Mrs. GoSaints9 was adjacent to her in J whereas me and Mstr GoSaints9 sat in row 8.

EXP approx 310k rolling.

11/27 BOS-MIA-MHH - Second leg cleared at T-100, first leg cleared at T-24 - both me and companion upgraded
12/2 MHH-MIA-BOS - First legcleared at T-48 - for second leg, MIA to BOS, was #2 on waitlist. For whatever reason, on the waitlist, my companion was not listed below me (was #6). Originally 2 seats were goign to be avaialble so the gate agent allowed me to split it (wife sat up front), then 4 total seats opened up but my companion never cleared

Any advice for rectifying waitlist order priority as gate agent said he was not allowed to? Companion should always be right below me on waitlist unless I'm understanding rules incorrectly

We've seen a couple instances of this lately where a companion is inexplicably not right below the elite on the airport waitlist. No idea why it happens.

But a GA saying they're "not allowed" to fix it is just being lazy and making things up, they're the only ones that can fix it (or another airport or AC agent).

AFAIK the usual process is just removing the companion's upgrade request and "link" to you, then adding it back from scratch. This typically fixes it.

appreciate the quick response - if i wanted to remove the companion's upgrade request, and then add it back, would that be best done by calling executive platinum line or is that something an AC or gate agent can do? thanks again

No that's what I was saying, at that point an airport agent is the only one that can fix it. A check-in, gate, or AC agent should all be able to do it. Saying they're "not allowed" is just :rolleyes:
