Don't count on it. Lack of repercussions for failing to do one's job is why AA's real slogan is "primarily there for your safety".
That said, it's worth inquiring. I was under the impression that complimentary upgrades were being auto cleared at 40 mins prior to departure. |
DEN-LAX, E75, Saturday, 7am - cleared at 100 hours.
Flight went out with 5 seats open in F. |

Hi. Apologies if it has been answered before but want to make sure it’s still a thing same as it was pre covid.
I paid cash for Y LHR ORD AA 90 9am - 10:40pm on Nov 9. It had upgradable space so I called and got instantly confirmed to J using miles + copay. Historically this flight never operates in November AFAIR and I expect next batch of schedule change to not have this flight bookable. Will I be moved to J on another AA flight on that same day or will they kick me to the back of bus and put back on the waitlist? Given that AA86 is C0 right now and prob gonna stay C0 until close to departure due to it being only ORD LHR flight off season. I’m EP if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance. |
gateH15, If AA moves you to a different flight, they'll keep you in business since you've already confirmed the upgrade. This happened to me going to Santiago where I was on a confirmed SWU nonstop from DFW-SCL. AA changed the frequency of that flight and then forced me to do DFW-MIA-SCL. The upgrade carried through. My buddy flying with me was on a mileage upgrade and they carried through his upgrade as well.

RIC-CLT-ORD Sat 3:30pm & 6:15pm, both flights cleared at 101 hours (10:30am email) for hubby and me.
Learned that vodka with the cranberry apple juice and a squeeze of lime is quite tasty! |
Cleared today Sunday July 2 at 4:30 pm IAH-DFW 4 hours out. I’m Gold for another day. Today is a quiet day of a holiday weekend. Really the only time you can clear an upgrade as gold is on an off day of a major holiday , a 5am departure , or a flight to an outstation landing past midnight. The admirals club is a ghost town.

I purchased four tickets from DFW to ICN in Premium Economy. I am Platinum Pro. Anyone know if AA will upgrade me to J if available?

if PE is oversold and you're the highest tier AA elites, then it's possible. But I would not count on it. |

Unless you use a SWU or miles+ copay, unlikely barring an operational reason.

I tried doing miles and copay but no C inventory available. But plenty of seats in J. Do they do waitlist for miles and copay?
