Gotcha and I'm all over ExpertFlyer now. "J" seats are open for upgrades? Or are these only for sale? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your time.
For upgrade space you need C, and on EF you must search using the "Awards & Upgrades" search and search segment by segment Not surprisingly that flight is C0, as C space will most likely not be released until 24-36 hours before until right up to the gate, as noted above. |
The two of us are now inside 24 hrs and still seats for sale in domestic F. I am ExecP. The app still shows us for upgrade. Do I need to do anything now inside T-24? I though I read that you have do something more in T-24. Thanx for any help.

Still waiting to see if we get an upgrade (we do not plan to pay for an upgrade). Flight is in a few hours. Should I go ahead and check in? Does it effect upgrades if you are checked in or not? Thanx for the help and advice.

definitely check in. There's no downside. |
Thank you so much for that. I did check in. We are at the gate (early) and are #1 & #2 on the upgrade list. Agent at the desk said he hasn’t started upgrade yet, so fingers crossed.
How far ahead of the flight does it usually get to airport control? |
This coming Tuesday evening PHX-FAT A319, myself (EXP) and companion (no status) cleared yesterday right at T-100. I almost always travel solo and this is the first time I've cleared before T-24 on an A319, go figure. Preceding DSM-PHX A320 not looking good, one FC open on seatmap. I don't want to mess with splitting us up for the first leg to have my coworker lose the upgrade on leg 2, I suppose I'll likely get passed over if there is only one UG available.

Update! We were boarded and in our exit row seats, resigned to the fact we weren’t getting an upgrade.
Then I get a notification on my phone that our seats were changed (upgrade came through) once boarding was complete. I guess a couple didn’t show for their/this flight. Boom: 3 E & F, baby! So happy 😁; hubs is too. Thanx again to everyone who answered my questions and helped me understand the process. I really appreciate it! |

Sounds like AA sold the six seats that were available at T-100 (probably through In-App-Upgrades) but two people did not show. Curious what was the route. |
Route was ORD-CLT

Upgrade List Weirdness
I was first for an upgrade today (with one spot open). About 30 minutes prior to boarding, the second person in the list jumped to the first spot (and got the upgrade). I asked at the gate but the agent was evasive about what happened. Any idea what might have caused it? Totally understand that upgrades are not guaranteed but this seemed a bit weird especially given how close to boarding the switch occurred.

LAX-BOS Upgrade Cleared T-100
Sometimes things just work out. Cleared upgrade at T-100 from Econ to Bus on red eye LAX-BOS. Was watching for week prior with 50% of seats filled prior to upgrade. 150LP YTD and 300 LP rolling 12. No bus available day of. Of course 4 First available. I’m sure the employees will enjoy.
