Hi guys,

Using Flagship check in at LAX tonight, is it customary to tip the guy escorting you through security? If so how much?

I went through about a week ago and it was still in T4.

just to report here....was in FC JFK-LAX not too long ago and there was an agent standing at Flagship Check-In but wouldn’t let me through (yes I explained I was EXP and flying FC to LA as I approached) because no one was there to check anyone in (WTH?!) and she walked me over to those kiosks around the corner. I wrote AA and all they said is corrective action will be had.

...and I just bought the winning Powerball ticket.

It's consistently been more painful than convenient to use Flagship Check-In. Unless you're on their paper lists for the transcons and int'l F flights, it's always a fight to use it.

Interestingly, when I flew to GRU, I approached Flagship Check-In, I put my bags down, was ready to get my Passport out, and the agent just asked, "Where are you flying?" Me: "São Paulo." She just motioned me past.

It’s not just that, AANYC1981 should have been on the list.

My understanding is that CKs and those in international/transcon F are on the podium list and they should be able to look up your name. For all others you need to "prove" your eligibility so when I've entered by virtue as a OW Emerald I've just showed my BAEC card and the rope has been parted. I have only used Flagship Check-In at JFK, LAX and LHR. With the latter (the rules for LHR always being a little different) I just told the person manning the (now closed) hall that I was OW Emerald, didn't even show anything.

I've never had any problems getting access, even just after the recent changes allowing Emeralds.

Never used this service, but just looking for clarification for 2 upcoming scenarios (both as EXP).

Arriving on an AY marketed, BA metal flight to JFK from LHR, continuing on to AUS on AA. My understanding is that I would not have access to Flagship Check-in, just normal F/Priority.

Arriving from HKG to LAX on an AA marketed and operated flight, connecting to AUS on AA. I would have access after clearing CBP.

In my case they didn’t even need to look at the list....there simply were no agents inside to help or do check-ins which is ridiculous knowing there are FC transcon pax departing all day.

I'm flying LAX - LHR in Y, on a BA flight number with my AA (plat) number in the booking. Can I use FS check in showing my LATAM Black card (on my phone)?

According to the AA website, there is no provision for passengers departing JFK in F on a CX flight to use Flagship Check-In at JFK.

  • Under "Qualifying first class", it says you must be flying "on American"
  • Under "Qualifying AAdvantage Executive Platinum" it says "operated by American"
  • Under "ConciergeKey" it says "operated by American"
  • Under "oneworld Emerald" it says "operated by American"

Is this an omission, or intentional?

That is the updated rules. In practice, CX first has been allowed Flagship First check-in. (I don't believe we have had anyone rejected.) I personally have used it several times without any hassle. I just show my itinerary.

That's correct, it's not officially listed.

The current thinking is that since AA has made an official arrangement to provide flagship dining access to CX F pax, that flagship first check-in might be sort of included as well. But definitely not officially/published to my knowledge and I know of a 2 very recent cases where someone flying CX F was refused flagship first check-in. (Then again, they've had that problem (confusion over qualification for use)-- big time-- with folks that -were- unambiguously allowed.)

I just used it for the first time.

Flying business on a 3 class transcon and OWE at least.
No problems getting in and the only person there until I held up a couple others but asking for more boarding passes to be printed.

Taken through the tensa barrier at the security check and then escorted in front of others waiting as I was a 5* passenger.
I can guess what the woman I ended up in front of was thinking.

So worked well there and quite impressed.
Do feel guilty about jumping the queue though.
