just a quick note to report that it worked out well :)
Predictably, the shuttle from the LAX island to terminal 5 took forever but I got out right at the gate for HNL and they were calling my name - last to board, got the upgrade, great flight.

Just got a “Good news your upgrade is confirmed!” Email but it lists a segment that isn’t even upgraded and it has my MCE seat as upgraded to Basic Economy which I didn’t even purchase lol.

WTH?

Gold flying RDU-DWF-NRT next week and SYD-LAX-CLT-RDU the following week. Just requested mileage upgrades. Any idea of odds? First time giving it a try.

I know SWU's and 500 mileage upgrades come out of different buckets, but historically when a domestic flight showed SWU available on AA.com, I was pretty successful at the comp 500 miler coming through after booking and in the EXP window. Recently not so much......did something change? Both my flights tomorrow domestically are showing SWU available but I'm still in MCE. One is even a short CR7 hop.

Slim to zero. At least for the Tokyo and Sydney flights.

What instruments are you using?

Hah. Well at least I know not to get my hopes up. What do you mean by instruments? I called and request a mileage upgrade and was put on the waitlist.

And where would a gold be on that upgrade list for C7?

I’m just saying as a gold you will be last in line unfortunately.

#1 if they call and process their upgrade. Space available, they can grab it.

In whichever they called and purchased the open upgrades? I don't think you understand how this works...

I think you will be pleasantly surprised ;)

Two of my recent international flights, MIA-EZE and EZE-MIA, had C7 and I had no status. I got the upgrade both times. All I had to do was call AA booking service.

So someone would have to have EF for this to know there is C inventory and if so a non status flyer can get an upgrade with no regards to status?

What happens if someone who is gold but doesn’t have EF where will they be on the upgrade list at the gate at T-4?
