[COLOR="Navy"]Welcome to the 2019 Domestic Dining thread and the resulting discussion/trip reports/photos/shared experiences. Here, in this wiki post, I'll strive to explain what you should expect on AA flights in First and Business, meals-wise. Keep in mind that there are many domestic flights, so there are quite a few parameters to keep track of.
Basically, in its best condensed form, you should expect to receive a meal between 4:59am - 8pm on flights longer than 900 miles, which equals about two hours in the air. From that point, there are exceptions, and specific timing parameters.
What to Expect - Mainline:
Keep in mind that this list is not entirely inclusive, and there may be certain exceptions and/or abnormalities.
What to Expect - Regional:
Keep in mind that this list is not entirely inclusive, and there may be certain exceptions and/or abnormalities.
All of the meal flights that fall under the above timing parameters will receive two choices; normally, one meat and one vegetarian.
Longer westbound flights leaving from the east coast (transcontinental; non-premium) are not officially exceptions, but some flights after 8pm receive a full dinner service (such as the 8:05pm MIA-SAN flight, or the 8:30pm PHL-LAS flight). Additionally, non-premium transcontinental red-eye flights will receive snack basket service upon departure, then a continental breakfast box prior to arrival.
Official Exceptions:
The following flights all fall under 900 miles, but will receive a full meal service, with the exception of flights leaving between 1:31-4pm. Despite some of the listed flights being over 900 miles, they are remaining listed here, based on the AA website for documentation purposes.
Additional Information:
Disclaimer: The editor of this Wiki does not guarantee the information presented above will always be accurate or properly followed by AA, given catering mishaps, irregular operations, rogue crews, or mismanagement. For the best up-to-date information, it would be prudent to check AA's website constantly for any updates, or call AA. The editors of this Wiki will keep this Wiki updated as often as possible.
Thanks to MrAndy1369 for starting the thread and for the guidelines.

- Up to 699 miles: Light snacks such as a fig bar, cookies, and/or pretzels
- 700-899 miles: Warmed nuts, a snack plate (fruit/cheese, pita/hummus, or spinach dip/pita), and a cookie
- 900-1298 miles: A meal (fruit/breakfast entree; salad/entree) followed by a cookie; no meals between 1:30-4pm
- 1298-2199 miles: A full meal including an appetizer, with cake for lunch desserts and premade ice-cream for dinner desserts
- 2200 miles and above: Same as 1298-2199 miles, but consists of made-to-order sundaes or a cheese plate for both lunch and dinner desserts
What to Expect - Regional:
Keep in mind that this list is not entirely inclusive, and there may be certain exceptions and/or abnormalities.
- Up to 175 miles: A light snack mix along with beverage service
- 176-899 miles: Sweet and savory, organic/healthy snack choices (snack basket)
- 900-2199 miles: Warm mixed nuts, two meal options, and dessert. (For flights over 2200 miles, you will receive the same selection of snacks from 176-899 miles as a pre-arrival snack. All regional meal flights leaving after 8:00pm will also receive sweet and savory snacks as the only option. Editor's note: A regional jet for 2000+ miles? Hope that never happens!)
- Chicago (ORD) - AUS/BDL/BOS/DCA/EWR/JFK/LGA/MSY/RDU
- Dallas (DFW) - BJX/ORD/MEX/QRO/SLP
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) - PAP
- Los Angeles (LAX) - DEN
- Miami (MIA) - DCA/IAD/PAP
- New York (LGA) - ATL
- Phoenix (PHX) - MZT
Additional Information:
- JFK-LAX/SFO; MIA-LAX are considered premium transcontinental flights, and as such, receives a more refined service with three meal choices, per-course service, printed menus, and tray/tablecloth linens in both F/J. Those flights now are the only domestic flights in the system to offer special meals as another option (which can be reserved by either preordering online, or calling). Red-eye flights will receive a full "supper/snack" meal service, which is basically a condensed dinner service.
- Hawaiian meal service is very similar to what you'd expect on 2200+ mile flights, but there also will be Hawaiian rolls served, along with a pre-arrival continental breakfast/snack (dependent on the length of the route). Tropical warmed nuts are also currently served.
- All flights over 700 miles, regardless of a meal being served or not, will receive warm mixed nuts and a cookie.
- At this time, pre-ordered meals are not available on American Eagle flights.

Although I was full from an excellent 4 course meal in LAX FFD, I accepted my pre-ordered Mezze Plate mostly for the photo op but also a taste test. This dish was simply dreadful. The hummus was fine, but the rest was just plain gross.
I hit the recline and slept like a baby for nearly 3 hours. Warm scone prior to landing.
And then there was seat 3A across from me. I gather that at some point while I was sleeping, 3A dropped something and this was result of the crew's attempt to find it.

For this short 1h45m flight, snack options were a protein plate or cheese and fruit. After a wonderful 4 course in JFK FFD, I was not hungry but this was actually pretty good as a dessert option since I missed dessert in FFD when AA moved the departure up 20 minutes. Loved the Rustic Bakery Sourdough Flatbread.

AA1048 DCA-MIA, 12pm departure
PDB choice from tray of OJ or water. Didn't bother asking for anything else to know if it would have been available. Nuts served after takeoff with drink, cookie service after meal. Mints distributed.
The mezze, which I feel is missing something based on the pictures of previous meals which had dolmades? My neighbour had the Zoe's caricature plate. Had definite food envy!
AA1159 MIA-ORD, 16:45 departure
PDB of choice. Nuts served after takeoff with drink, cookies after meal. No mints.
Vegetarian Chill. The FA tried to give me a Zoe's caricature plate "by accident" and I really wish I had kept it.
Mezze
Vegetarian Chilli
Folks, I advise to stay away from the chilli. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't bother again...

Haven't flown AA in more than a year but I have decided to take them one way on an upcoming trip only because there was an opportunity for international equipment with lie flats. Options are either grilled chicken in shiitake mushroom sauce with twice baked potato or vegetarian chili with roasted garlic polenta cake. Both sound intriguing but I fully expect AA to butcher them in execution. Leaning towards the chili just because I know the quality of AA proteins has historically been quite tragic, however if someone can recommend the chicken as being edible I would give it a shot.

Well, here's my report back. I had eaten a decent amount in the Centurion Lounge and as this was a pretty early dinner flight I took this mostly for the photo op. Choices were chicken in a shiitake mushroom sauce or vegetarian chili with polenta cake which I went with:
I thought it was fine. It wasn't great but wasn't terrible either, I would classify it as edible. Not as good as I remember the old lentil chili being (despite the stones), and it was definitely helped a bit by the cheese provided with it. It's a bit soupy and flavorless for a chili but otherwise I would probably select it again to avoid a bland/dry chicken dish. Haven't had the new Zoe's stuff so I'm not sure how that compares although even those look to be somewhat hit or miss.

That mezze plate looks fantastic! They should start offering more of this kind of stuff.

Full PDB.
Catering gave us lunch instead of breakfast. Choices were chicken salad or roast beef sandwich. I decided to make the most of it and tried the roast beef sandwich as it was the closest item to breakfast.

First Class
Surprisingly, indeed shockingly good meal last night and great AA service both on the ground and in the air. My inbound BA flight was 90 minutes late which left me just 50 minutes to connect from T7 to T8. Terrific AA rep met me midway thru the T7 international arrivals dungeon and escorted me thru CBP to the Air Train exit. No one at T8 PreCheck and I made it to Gate 34 just as Group 1 boarding began, a mere 23 minutes after deplaning my BA 744. Excellent inflight service from LAX-based lead FA Janet.
While the white wines were still cheap $13-$15 selections, the reds were impressive including the very nice Miner Stagecoach Merlot which retails for $45-$50.
My, my... We've come a long way from the embarrassing paper packets of a few years ago.
Paprika Chicken starter was excellent.
Wild Mushroom Velouté Soup was yummy.
The Beef Bolognese was delicious.
For dessert, the Fig and Brie Cobbler was spectacular.

Flight date is Sep 11. I contacted the Twitter team through DM and they confirm there are three offerings. They've entered my selection even though the online system still only shows the one choice.

Swiss cheese and tomato omelette
After scrolling through and seeing everyone’s meal options, I am convinced flights from DCA have the worst meal options.
flying from DCA-AUA and I have breakfast and lunch service.
Anyone ever have the Swiss cheese and tomato omelette (sounds gross). Other option is granola. Unless there are special meal options that might have a better breakfast (not sure what diabetic would get me).
lunch my options are Chopped salad
(romaine, penne pasta, blue cheese, pepperoncini and tomatoes with side of Italian seasoned grilled chicken) or Spinach and Ricotta Cheese Raviolini Spinach (
with roasted onion calabrian chili sauce). Fruit and cheese and Zoe’s are options too (I may go with fruit and cheese or Zoe’s)

I remember liking it, but that is not saying much as I really disliked the Zoes stuff and folks here have enjoyed it, so different strokes for different folks.

Catering was a little different than I was used to.
On Sunday, BWI-DFW had a cheeseburger for lunch which surprisingly didn't suck. Served when chips and then a cookie.
DFW-SMF surprised me a bit. Dinner was chicken with some sort of mushroom gravy with a twice baked potato, salad and a prosciutto appetizer. Did not expect strawberry ice cream on that short of flight though. That was a nice surprise on a midcon.
