Is anyone traveling through PHL this afternoon able to confirm if the FL finally opens? I was told yesterday that today's the day

It doesn't have to be attached to the booking, there are plenty of AA flyers that have their AA# on bookings but use other oneworld programs for lounge entry on domestic flights. Just show them your BA Gold card for entry.

If I'm flying shortly after becoming QR Gold (and assuming QR isn't trying to Fedex me a card the second I hit it ;) ), can I just give them my QR number (to enter in the computer) and/or show them the QR app with my status reflected?
Cheers. |
Wanted to give a couple of data points about next day access. I had a NCE-PHL flight followed by a PHL-DFW-SMF flight the following afternoon on the same ticket (22 hour layover in PHL). I was able to get access to FL in PHL at 12 pm (automatic gate denied me but lounge attending override). However, I was denied at DFW citing over 24 hour since termination of the NCE to PHL leg

Multiple guests one at a time?
Apologies if this is addressed earlier in the thread, I tried searching but don't see anything definitive.
I'm going to be traveling in a few days with my family and kicking myself that I didn't know about status gifting with miles earlier so we could each guest in one child. Really not happy about this because 5 days ago I could have spent 8K miles to give my wife Platinum for a day and now it's within 7 days so not possible. SUCKS. So as it stands I have FL access for me +1 but am traveling me +3. We'll be at DFW in the Capital One lounge right next to FL. What I'm wondering is, if we camp out in there, can I take one person into Flagship with me, then we leave, and I come back with a different +1? I don't see anything in the T&C that would prohibit this but just curious practically speaking how it works. I have also heard that some small % of the time the agents may waive a family in if you're nice and it's not too busy. Not going to bank on that, curious to hear about people's data points. Only international flight with the family in 10 years so would really like to make it work. |
You can certainly try asking if they can make an exception. Could well
work if you’re nice about it. As for the other plan, I would expect it to work to stash one person and come back with more, but it is in clear violation of the guesting rules, so it depends on whether that matters to you. Cheers. |

Also I would check the below thread, recent datapoint of the status for a day being applied a few days before the actual date you pick. For 8k miles it might be worth it to roll the dice and pick the soonest day you can then hope the status shows up early on that person's account.

I’m guessing this question may be addressed upthread, but I’m looking for a quick data point.
I’m currently at DFW on layover en route to LGA. Tomorrow afternoon I’m flying JFK-LAX in FF. Will they allow me into the FL at the T-24h mark of tomorrow’s departure? It’s obviously on a separate booking, but wonder if anyone’s tried this. |

I ended up having an interesting experience at DFW. The check-in agent said when I asked about FL access that she thinks they will let all 4 of us in with me (even though I'm only PP). "I know the girls over there and during the summer when the kids are off they are pretty lenient about it." Well, I was very friendly and humble in my request and was very bluntly told to pound sand. I told her my wife had a status match pending and would be Platinum any day but she wouldn't look at it and basically gave us a hell no.
But, we got lucky. Since they moved the entrance to share with AC instead of Capital One lounge, she sent us upstairs (am AA member) and I got a second shot to appeal to the agent up there. She was hesitant at first but asked me the kids' ages and how long until our flight. We had 45 minutes until boarding and the kids were young so she let us in! Then our flight was delayed 3 hours 😁 😁 😁 Anyway, I'm now very glad I didn't waste 12K mi. on Status for a Day for her. Saved that for the way back so we can all hit JAL First Class. (And that ended up being unnecessary too since we all changed into JAL J and would have had lounge access anyway.) But I will say, big fan of FL. I mean, basically an AC with better food. But they had some drinks I like available for self-service and some smoked salmon. I'm good to go. |

As a somewhat frequent legitimate user of the FL, I am very much not happy about this story. If I understand you correctly, you were in a party of 4, and none of you were entitled to FL access, and you knew that. Yet you tried to finagle your way in anyway and were successful. So you and your young children added to the crowds and noise in the lounge (thereby degrading other people's experience), took up space you were not entitled to, and received food and premium beverages that you were not entitled to, thereby driving up costs for everyone else. :td: Edited to add: Maybe the blame here lies with the check-in agent who encouraged you to try to enter the FL. Big fail on her part. As I recall, FL day passes can be purchased for $150 per person. So the correct response from the check-in agent would have been, "Sure, we'd be happy to welcome you to the Flagship Lounge. The cost will be $150 per person, payable at the entrance." |

For me, this is 100% on the gatekeepers, not OP. People try every day to gain access when they don't have it. It is up to the agents to say no. As they say, 'don't hate the player, hate the game'. |

I believe OP is PP traveling internationally, giving OP +1 access. The 'rule breaking' was the extra two people (kids).

I agree and don’t care about 2 extra kids. More than not other adults are the issue w bare feet on the couch/table or loud convos on the phone on speaker. If the kids are well behaved no issue.
I wish AA would loosen up the restrictions when it comes to traveling with kids (i.e. raise the complementary age limit from 2). The flagship lounges nearly always have plenty of chairs, most kids are decently well behaved (and if they aren't there can be enforcement for that),they don't even eat much until they are well into their teens, they don't drink. They usually just sit quietly on their phones watching a video or texting. The value of my status has always been hindered by the fact that when I do travel internationally, I do often travel as a party of three (1 kid, now aged 14), thus making flagship lounges 'benefit' one of those things that seems stuck with the old-idea of who are the targeted frequent flyer program customers (single business travelers who take an occasional " "business" " trip with their mistress). FWIW, I have never successfully gotten any grace about the kid. I did ask a few times over the years, but it was always a "we can let her in for $150". |
