As a somewhat frequent legitimate user of the FL, I am very much not happy about this story. If I understand you correctly, you were in a party of 4, and none of you were entitled to FL access, and you knew that. Yet you tried to finagle your way in anyway and were successful. So you and your young children added to the crowds and noise in the lounge (thereby degrading other people's experience), took up space you were not entitled to, and received food and premium beverages that you were not entitled to, thereby driving up costs for everyone else. :td:
Edited to add: Maybe the blame here lies with the check-in agent who encouraged you to try to enter the FL. Big fail on her part. As I recall, FL day passes can be purchased for $150 per person. So the correct response from the check-in agent would have been, "Sure, we'd be happy to welcome you to the Flagship Lounge. The cost will be $150 per person, payable at the entrance." I would not try to access something with no entitlement at all but I feel like I was justified in asking here. Our return is in a week and we will all 4 be in JAL First Class lounge and Flagship at ORD on our own entitlements. |
What's the best lounge in LHR T5? Been to the BA lounges, was hoping there is another one I could visit for a 2.5 hour layover there in a few weeks. Connection time is a bit short for me to try to get to T3 and back. Any other good options besides the BA lounges in T5? The Pier in HKG has ruined me!

I think I'm being a little misunderstood. I am Platinum Pro and the 4 of us flew DFW-HND so I was entitled to myself and a guest. My wife just status matched from Southwest to AA Platinum and we were simply waiting on it to process through the system, which would have entitled us to the other 2 of us. So 2 of us were directly good and 2 more of us were just waiting on technology. That was the basis of my request.

Folks - We're starting to veer a bit off-course into passenger shaming and lounge etiquette. Let's stick to the topic of this thread, which is Flagship Lounge access. Thanks for your cooperation. :) /Moderator

AA Platinum bringing family of four into Flagship Lounge
Hi all! I am an AA Platinum, and will be bringing my family on an international trip soon. I know access policies for Flagship Lounges is that a status member can only bring one guest with them. My question is if I can bring one member of my family in as my guest, they spend some time in the lounge, then I leave with them and take another member of my family in. This way every member of my family would have a turn in the lounge without theoretically violating access policies. Is this allowed? Or is this method restricted? Thanks!

Once they scan you and your first guest in, it may be flagged when you scan the 2nd guest in (after the 1st one leaves). You'll probably have to explain to them what you're trying to do and see if it will fly. I understand the point is that you'll only ever have one guest in the lounge with you at a time. Your screen name has "NYC" in it. FYI if you're going to JFK, the lounge you would be able to use is the Greenwich lounge. AA doesn't technically have a 'flagship' lounge at JFK any more, but instead they have 3 premium lounges. Greenwich is the one for Plat and business class passengers without higher status than Plat/OneWorld Sapphire. It has all the bells and whistles of any other Flagship lounge.

Better solution is gifting status for a day. Have you looked into this? Go into your account and look for Engage with Miles. You should be able to gift her Platinum status for 8,000 miles. This will give her status on her day of travel (technically starting 3 days in advance and ending 2 days later) and then she will be able to bring in one kid and the 4 of you can chill... I did this recently and it worked perfectly. Actually did Platinum Pro for a day so she could be OneWorld Emerald and access JAL First Class lounge all together, which also got her+1 into Flagship again in ORD. |

T&C don't restrict it. YMMV.

Shoot! This actually would have been a really good idea! Unfortunately it has to be purchased at least seven days before travel and I'm flying sooner than that...

How soon are you traveling? This seems to post 3 days in advance of the date selected. If you want to live on the wild side and there's still time you could try picking a day 1-3 days post-travel and hope for the best! It's also still valid for 2 days after. This would be risky for sure but it's an option!

Arriving to JFK as EX Plat on Qatar business, meeting my daughter at the airport to continue on AA domestic flight - will she be eligible as my guest to Greenwich? Website seems to only indicate that they need to be traveling on a one world flight.

Yes, you would also have access to Soho should you desire.
