Is there away to still fly CX in F with this routing
kix-hkg-sfo without redeeming two separate awards? The layover @hkg is just for transitting

Possibly with Alaska miles. Not with AAdvantage

Definitely with Alaska. Fewer points than just the single AA award, too, plus a stopover is permitted. I only mention as perhaps the OP should consider SPG as their primary card currency, as points can be transferred into either AA or AS.

JL F to Japan not an option with AA? Asia 1, so fewer points than the single CX award (let alone TWO).

Good luck - Jamie

Good thought. Flexibility is good to have.

Yes, on CX, but that was a couple years ago.

JFK-HKG lap child in business

folks - what have been your experience in fees for a lap child in business? I have miles to cover 3 adults for an Aug trip but hope it's not $500-$1000 extra to take our lap child. Would love to hear if anybody has flown recently

Thx

Hope you find a better answer than that.

There is a discrepancy for CX F availability between JL and BA websites. For example, on Oct.1 for LAX-HKG, JL shows one flight 2xF, one flight 3xF, and BA shows only one flight 1xF. Does AA have access to what is shown on JL website, or only to reduced availability shown on BA website?

Was gonna try JFK-HKG in F with lap child, got quoted 25% of $28k=$7k. No way that was happening. Had a boat-load of Avios, and ended up going that route, 10% of points.

Yes, I've seen some decent CX J award availability (4 seats some days) looking for Feb/Mar 2017 flights on the AKL route.

Cathay charges 25 percent ex US, so it's closer to 1k USD.

Beginning to plan for an award trip to Beijing next year from Austin; I've checked on ITA and I'm not seeing a Cathay-only fare for this route (or JAL for that matter)--that means there is no published fare for them between the airports, right?
