I'm coming in from the Philly suburban area. I did check prices for Uber/Lyft, as well as private services, and they definitely would cost more than me driving and parking at either option, so I've ruled them out. Typically I hate going to a different airport for a flight, but I got a JFK-HKG in business class rate at about $3K on Finnair, so it was worth it to make the drive.

I think I'm leaning towards the long term option. Hopefully I won't hit much traffic on the drive in on a Saturday afternoon. I'm leaving home at 1:30 PM to catch a 7 PM flight there, so I'm thinking that'll be plenty of time unless the traffic is ridiculous, in which case I may last second go for the terminal parking.

Just a few points. As I will have a "new" esta cam I still use a booth or will need to see an agent. Also is T8 a busy time at 6pm (Thursday in early December)
Should be plenty of time, although you will have to go thru immigration, and then back thru JFK security. December (early) T8 at 6pm can be busy but in the summer probably more so with all the Euro and South American outbounds.

Philadelphia is a long way. I would have suggested NE Direct from 30th Street Station or Trenton, but for four people, the Amtrak, LIRR and AirTrain ticket cost will be much more than parking (although don't forget gas and tolls in your math - the new Goethals and Verrazano are pretty pricey.) Not to mention hoofing it through Penn Station and its myriad of escalators and stairs. Have fun !

JFK - Curbside Check In

Flying American Airlines JFK to London. Flight leaves 10:40pm. My ride gets me to the airport 2:30pm.

I have an e-ticket on my phone. Can Curbside Check In take my bags 8 hrs. before my flight?
(Dragging our checked bags around the airport for 6 hours wouldn't be fun)

Thank you in advance

I can't speak to when curbside check-in will allow you to check your bags, but there is luggage storage available at terminal 1 and terminal 4 which might be an option given the time frame. For me, I'd store the luggage and go into the city for a couple of hours, but that's just me.

1:50 min JFK I-D on separate tickets - doable?

Arriving on AA95 at 1:10. Eyeing a domestic departure at 3:00 PM. Will have checked bags. I'm leaning well towards no, but any insight is appreciated.

With GE and Pre and NO checked bags and arrival on time, easy. Even a 30-minute delay and you could make it.
With checked bags, it is a crapshoot at best. (And if you don't have GE and Pre, unlikely.)

I personally would not chance it.

I agree with Global321. Even with Mobile Passport, it is easily doable with no checked bags. Assuming the domestic flight is also AA, having to wait for the bag to come to the carousel, and then having to recheck it and reclear security has taken me roughly 75 minutes (from gate arrival) in the past. It's still risky, but doable if everything is on time.

Thanks. There were no options other than 3 or getting in way too late, so booked a nonstop on DL instead.

That leaves me with 4 ish hours. Can I land, get my bags, head to DL, check them in and then re-enter T8 to use the FL? Do not have any lounge access in T2.

If your flight out of JFK is on DL I don't think that you would be let into the Flagship Lounge.

Hi,

I’m just wondering about the layout of gates at JFK T8.

Do all international arrivals have to arrive into the main building? So gates 1-20?

Can international arrivals be at gates 30+? Is there a way to get passengers from these gates to USCBP securely?

International arrivals can arrive at either the main building or the satellite building. When arriving at the satellite building there is a separate underground passageway to immigration/customs hall in the main building.

TWA Hotel

Anybody visited the TWA Hotel? Arriving at 8, departing from T7 with a 2' 20" layover. Might be a quick look. Worth it?
