They allow open jaw on domestic awards, but very limited. I did YYZ-DFW-MEM-ORD-YUL. Cannot do YYZ-DFW-MEM-ORD. Because the distance of the shortest segment DFW-MEM is less then YYZ-YUL, but more then ORD-YYZ.

It was told by an agent that BE awards could only be open "on one end", so for example A->B, B->C or A->B, C->A, but not A->B, C->D.

I just checked my BE account as I was going to use some points to get my wife Gold status when hers expires at the end of February. I had 6 segments in December with >$800 in base fare but I got 0 BE points for that. I sent a message to customer service. Any reason I shouldn't get BE points? Is this a bug? Anyone else having this problem?

Same issue on my account. I see the flights posted, but zero points. Please advise what kind of response you get from CS.

Just noticed the same issue for December... no promo codes/discount codes were used for the fares purchased.

Update on this issue

I used the website's (BE) feature to request credit and entered all my ticket numbers (which were already showing anyway, with zero base points). I did this about 2-3 days ago. I just logged in and they had posted my points. Looked like a manual adjustment posted by customer service. No email, no explanation, nothing. They just posted the points and they were correct. I'd pursue this route as it seems to work (and it's not the first time I have to go chase the points this way).

All of my Dec flights posted correctly to BE this morning. I was going to fill out the manual adjustment form today, but glad I didn't have to. I think they were just behind with their posting this month.

My BE account now shows correct #'s for December. I had sent an e-mail. It was fixed but no correspondence from CS.

Addendum: Just received an e-mail from AA telling me the points have been posted.

BXP1 Award Code Class

I am trying to use a BXP1 on JFK to SFO in Business Class. I would like to book an Economy ticket then upgrade to Business Class. I called the agents and asked which fare class the upgrade comes out of; she said U. The help above says C. C makes more sense and I see more availability on ExpertFlyer. Does anyone know for a fact which is the actual class needed for a BXP1 for the upgraded class in Business on the JFK to SFO/LAX route?

As / more important: BXP1 cannot be used on a deep discount economy fare (fare basis codes starting with N, O, Q or S). https://www.businessextra.com/awards/toc.htm?awardId=10

Definitely comes out of C. I've done it multiple times. But what diver858 says is correct.

I have a BXP3 that expires at the end of June. I tried using it a few times last year with no success from economy to biz. Now I have SWUs to burn, so I will not personally use the BXP3.

What can I do with this puppy? Is it possible to give it to a friend and let them see if they can use it? Or must it be used by me? Any other options?

All BizExtraa awards can be given to others without any difficulty. BizExtraa is typically used by businesses to reward employees, etc.

I realized that after I took the time to open the envelope it was in and look at the actual certificate, ha! Doh!

Thanks!

Is it common for people to have their Business Extra accounts revoked for insufficient activity? This warning is present a few times during the application process and the website.

My Business Extra account uses the tax ID from a company I co-own, so it's legit, but I'm really the only one who's going to be contributing any real amount of travel revenue (can't convince my co-owners to consolidate on AA as they are entirely price-sensitive-per-trip, and they travel significantly less than I do anyway). So I could imagine from AA's end my BE account is just small potatoes. Are they likely to shut it down after some kind of automated review or culling?
