I would expect 2-3 months to be planning ahead but 9 months? common!
Business ExtrAA PlanAAhead awards book into the same bucket as normal AA MilesAAver awards. So, whatever you see on the website that is on AA metal and is bookable for a MilesAAver award, is bookable as a PlanAAhead award. If nothing can be booked on AA.com as an award ticket, then, nothing can be booked with Business ExtrAA awards.

Also, like with booking any type of awards, award availability is always subject to change.

Thank you for the info....I checked the milessaaver peak (usually 17500 miles) and they have no available tickets, only the Aanytime (35000 miles), which corresponds to the AAnytime...no wonder! But really, there is nothing until May....that's just terrible....I will wait another 2 weeks and see if they release anything then..... thnak you incognito for the info! ^

Question

Does anyone know if award reservation held by EXP agent (i.e. expanded EXP availability) can be ticketed by BE/Meeting service as BE award?

I tried this once and the meeting services agent could not ticket the held reservation and had to create a new one. I wasn't using expanded availability and there was additional availability so it wasn't a problem in my case.

Up-fare one leg vs entire itinerary?

Considering a SAN-MIA-MCO with ~6-hour stay in MCO to walk an industry trade show. Holding a $265 RT, booked in O, which is not eligible for BXP1 upgrade. Called AA, claimed W was the lowest bucket, but was told that it was not possible to upfare only the SAN-MIA redeye, changing the entire itinerary to W more than doubled the fair. Considered booking 2 one-ways but the fare is no longer available - O / Q start at $191 each way.

Is the rep correct? I have been able to upfare one leg on two previous occasions for a modest (approx $100) increase. Have not yet attempted to call back, figured it would be best to try in the morning, as some of the inventory currently on hold would become available.

In principle you could break the fare -- upfare SAN-MIA to the lowest permissible fare, and book MIA-MCO as a separate fare component though in the same ticket. There's no guarantee that that's cheaper than upfaring the whole itinerary.

Picking an arbitrary date and looking only at published fares (without checking inventory, which of course varies from flight to flight), I show the cheapest round-trip SAN-MCO as $222 r/t (in O), and cheapest qualifying bucket as $412 r/t (in V). In contrast, the cheapest SAN-MIA r/t qualifying fare (in G) is $580. This suggests you wouldn't get any savings from breaking the fare in MIA. Agent was probably right to encourage you to upfare the whole itinerary, though the agent might have misstated this (like in telling you "not possible" rather than "not cost-effective").

I ended booking a BX4D AAnytime Award - Between North America and Central/S. America Zone 1 which costed me 7500 points....there wasn't anything available until april next year under PlanAAhead...the availability of those tickets are gone for sure.

Thank y ou again IncognitoMD for letting us know how to check the available seats for BE awards! ^

Business ExtrAA now Business Extra

Received an email today regarding "Business Extra" and noticed that the website has apparently been rebranded as well. No more "Business ExtrAA".

Maybe the next step is "bUSiness Extra"?

Yeah - when I couldn't get it to load, I tried adding the extrA A, but it didn't help.

Yeah. I was going through their website last night and noticed the missing A, and thought perhaps they had a typo.

I received an email today for a promotion (FINALLY!) use code BIRTHDAY for a chance to get 2000 points

https://www.businessextra.com/i18n/c...s/birthday.jsp

Unfortunately the maximum amount of points that you can get is 2000 pts:

"Your company's Business Extra account number must be in the employee's reservation to earn bonus points. Your company will earn 300 bonus points after the first employee flies one round-trip using the company's Business Extra account number during the offer period. Your company will earn another 700 points after flying 2 additional eligible round-trips during the offer period. Your company will earn another 1,000 points after flying 2 additional eligible round-trips during the offer period. Maximum number of bonus points associated with this offer is 2,000. Business Extra bonus points will be posted to the member company's account within six to eight weeks after the offer end"

Arrow Unused BE Upgrade Certificates - Reinstatement Fees

I recently had some BE upgrade certificates that I had cleared but was ultimately unable to use due to an involuntary reroute. I recall that it's been asked here previously whether or not one might be able to return such certs.

I can now say that the answer is Yes, but they will charge you award reinstatement fees of $150 for the first cert and $25 for each subsequent cert.

I'd escalate that to BE management, then to AA customer relations. An involuntary rereoute is no circumstance to charge a redeposit/reinstatement fee. I believe DOT would consider that an unfair/deceptive practice and would not allow it.
