AAdvantage Aviator Silver and Red Cards from BarclayCard
There are five AAdvantage-linked Aviator-branded cards by Barclaycard. Two of them can be applied for directly, the other three are upgrades or downgrades after receiving a Red card. The Many Flavors of Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator
Where can I see information on all available Barclays Barclaycard AAdvantage cards?
Aviator Red (On AA.com)
Aviator Silver (On AA.com)
Aviator Business (On AA.com)
Red cardholders may receive an offer to upgrade to Aviator Silver after a period of time that varies, usually 3-11 months. The offer appears in the online "Offers" section, if it is declined there may be no simple way to receive the upgrade. Be careful with your clicking! Silver benefits begin at the start of the next statement, but the increased annual fee won't hit until the next card-member year starts.

So I see these T&C for the loyalty bonus next year on the Aviator Silver page on AA.com:
But for the Citi Executive:
Additional Loyalty Points earned as a result of this offer will typically be posted to the primary credit cardmember’s AAdvantage® account 8-10 weeks after meeting the $40,000 spend requirement. Loyalty Points only count toward status qualification for the AAdvantage® program. Loyalty Points earned through this offer will not count toward AAdvantage® Million Miler℠ status. Loyalty Points cannot be redeemed for award travel, AAdvantage® miles or any other AAdvantage® program awards. AAdvantage® program status requirements and balance are available at aa.com/newaadvantage ».
....Which makes me wonder if this card is going to be worth keeping after 2022.
Loyalty Points
You will earn up to 15,000 additional Loyalty Points on your spend between January 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023. Earn 5,000 Bonus Loyalty Points if you spend $20,000 on purchases, another 5,000 Bonus Loyalty Points if you spend $40,000 on purchases, and another 5,000 Bonus Loyalty Points if you spend $50,000 or more on purchases.10,000 Additional Loyalty Points Benefit

A primary credit cardmember may earn the 10,000 additional Loyalty Points only once each qualifying year, even if the credit cardmember has more than one Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive account. The 10,000 additional Loyalty Points earned are in addition to any Loyalty Points earned for purchases made on the credit card. Purchases exclude returned goods or services, cash advances, convenience checks, transferred balances, credits, fees and interest charges. That gives you 90,000 plus 25,000 LP = 115,000 LP Spend another $10K and you have 125,000 LP and get Platinum Pro with no flying.
You have to have an AA affiliated credit card (Barclay or Citi) to earn LP from CC spend. American Express doesn't transfer to AA.
I think this is the whole point of the new AA LP program. They want you to spend a lot on their affiliated CCs.
Even if you are currently EXP - you need to spend $18,182 to get EXP on flying only.
Although before for Barclay - at $50K you got:
10K EQM - 10% of the requirement for EXP
$3K EQM - 20% of the amount for the original $15K spend requirement.
So getting 15K LP from Barclay is only 7.5% of the EXP requirement.
So does seem like a reduction in benefit. Seems like Barclay should be giving a larger LP bonus.
Although you do get 50K LP for the $50K spend so 65,000 LP is around 30.7% of the way.

I think you will want both cards - if you can spend $90K - $50K on Barclay and $40K on Cit Exec (charge your taxes).

$20K spend = 5K LP
+$20K spend = 5K LP
+$10K spend = 5K LP
So you can earn 15K LP (versus 10K on Citi Exec at $40K spend only)
Meet the limits on both and you get 25K LP boost total.

Not sure your ultimate point since you point out the flaw in your own logic in that $50k in spend gets you over 30% of the way to elite status in addition to the RDM you earn, which is clearly an improvement to the contribution towards elite compared to the previous program.
But the boost only gives you 15K LP (7.5%) which is better than nothing - but not as much boost as before.

I get that, however, what I'm saying is the Terms & Conditions seem to say that the Barclays boost may only be for 2022 only while the Citi Executive one will continue on.

My Silver Aviator still references the calendar year as the earning period. So, no, do not wait until 2022 to hit the $50K spend mark, if you can, until you see confirmation that Barclays has changed their timeframes.

I just looked at my November statement for my Red card and noticed a little blurb that says the cell phone protection benefit will be ending after December 31, 2021. I hadn't heard about MasterCard ending this benefit, so I'm wondering if this is just something Barclay's is doing? Are they getting rid of it from the Silver card also?
I sent them an email about it and they responded:
The Cellphone Protection Benefit is no longer being offered for our AAdvantage Cards. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Via my Barclays card, I earned a bonus 5000 EQM on 04Dec. IIRC, these things post on a particular day of the month in a batch run. Does anyone remember what day they post? I understand it will be backdated to the earned day but it has not yet posted even though my card cycled 13 days ago. TIA.
