AAdvantage Aviator Silver and Red Cards from BarclayCard
There are five AAdvantage-linked Aviator-branded cards by Barclaycard. Two of them can be applied for directly, the other three are upgrades or downgrades after receiving a Red card. The Many Flavors of Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator
Where can I see information on all available Barclays Barclaycard AAdvantage cards?
Aviator Red (On AA.com)
Aviator Silver (On AA.com)
Aviator Business (On AA.com)
Red cardholders may receive an offer to upgrade to Aviator Silver after a period of time that varies, usually 3-11 months. The offer appears in the online "Offers" section, if it is declined there may be no simple way to receive the upgrade. Be careful with your clicking! Silver benefits begin at the start of the next statement, but the increased annual fee won't hit until the next card-member year starts.
Aviator Silver Vs Red
Annual Fee: Silver $199 Red $99

Card Benefit Details
FlyerTalk thread Citi & Barclaycard AAdvantage Credit Card Free Domestic Checked Bag / Baggage
Aviator Silver Bonus Loyalty Points: Bonuses are based on spend during status year, not anniversary year. When upgrading to Silver your Red spending will carry over. Five thousand Loyalty Points after spending $20k/$40k/$50k. You cannot stack multiple Silver accounts to earn this multiple times.
Companion Certificate: $20k in anniversary year spend required, issued about 45 days after you annual fee hits. Red gets one companion, Silver can have two. $99+tax for companions, round-trip 48 contiguous US States only unless you live in Alaska or Hawaii, in which case you may fly from your home state to the 48.

Pretty sure u are in understanding how this works. To post threshold bonuses they have to transmit 1 mile so that it will show up in the system. And that 1 mikes would get 1 LP. Now look other places or call ACS because the bonus LPs should be there and remember when there was the initial posting of prior LPs? Its probably in that number. If u dont believe it is call ACS or add up all of ur miles and bonus that would be eligible for conversion to LPs and see if the number foots.

IDK if this has been mentioned but in case it hasn't I will rant here.
I had an offer in my Barclay profile to upgrade to the Silver, which I accepted on March 27th.
I have used the BIZ Aviator card every year to get $3k EQDs for $25k in spend but since that is gone I have no need for this anymore. I figured switching my personal no-fee Aviator to Silver would let me get some extra LPs with $20 or $40k in spend.
After I accepted the offer it said I would get the Silver card in the mail in 7-10 business days, which was fine as I was planning on spending $30k on it next week on Tax Day.
2 weeks later....I still don't have a card and call in to figure out where the card is.
I learned that the new Silver card AND the benefits do not start until your next statement date, which would be April 21st in my case.
So yeah...I wanted to simply warn people that if you upgrade your card you will NOT get the new card sent out until your NEXT STATEMENT DATE.
2 thumbs down for Barclays.
Should we add this info to the Wiki?

Are you upgrading from the Business card to a personal Silver or from another personal card? When I upgraded from Red to Silver in January 2020, all the spending (albeit only half a month) stayed with the account and rolled over to the Silver. Kept the same number, so I didn't lose out on any YTD spend accumulation. It's not a bug. It's a feature.
my upgrade experience was the same

No.
Upgraded from no-fee (it was a silver card years back) personal card to the Silver.
I have the Biz card also.

You should be good. Assuming you have the credit available on the no-fee card (if they approved the upgrade, I assume you do), charge on that and the spend should carry through to the Silver.

I only get .5 LPs/$ on this no-fee card. I stopped using it when I downgraded years ago so Im trying not to use it til it goes back to being a Silver.

Correct, but the total $ spent in the year (aka the spend counter) will carry over from old card to new card - in regards to hitting thresholds for LP bonus rewards.
The standard LP earned sounds like it will earn at the reduced rate you mentioned.

Offer eligibility is subject to change. It will not always be available if you modify your account - including, but not limited to, accepting another offer, moving to a different product or closing your account.
To take advantage of this promotional offer, please wait 24 hours from now to make your first purchase.
After accepting this offer, please refer to the Interest Charge Calculation section of your monthly statement for your promotional balance and offer terms, or call the number on the back of your card if you have further questions regarding this offer.

I got the letter in the mail finally telling me that on April 22 (the day after my statement closes) my existing Aviator account will magically become a Silver account and that a new card with the same number will be mailed sometime between now and then.

Is it a 0% APR on purchases? Or a 0% APR balance transfer offer? That might affect it, hard to say tho.
I don't see harm in accepting the offer and then letting the account conversion take place.

I would imagine if you accept it now, it will migrate over. It will likely disappear when the account conversion happens.

I called and asked (Barclays reps almost never know anything), and she said she THINKS I would lose the offer if I accept it prior to the change.

Finally received the Silver upgrade on my account (no email - just saw it as I logged in to check my transactions). Clicked to upgrade for $199, but didn't receive any confirmation emails. I accidentally closed out my confirmation screen - for those of you who upgraded recently, did you eventually get an email or some kind of confirmation? Or did the card just show up in the mail after some weeks?
