I called to cancel my card today. Retention offer was, IMHO, pretty lame: $50 statement credit + 750 bonus miles every billing cycle I exceed $750 in spend for 16 cycles (total 12k potential bonus miles). I declined. I assumed their hands may be a bit tied given the cost of the AC benefit, but it seems like this will be a product they will struggle to keep people coming back to. Seems like it mostly makes sense for folks who fly frequently enough to justify the AC benefit but not quite enough to hit the next elite level w/o the 10k EQM bonus after $40k spend.

Data point: 10k EQM posted 3 weeks after statement closed.
So infuriating that you don't get any EQP at all.

If you have to MR to get to EXP (or an elite reward), this can be a very useful card.
However, if the existing Barclays cards are kept, I'd drop it in a heartbeat. Their cards give you 10k EQM after $25k spend and have a $89 annual fee plus some other fun benefits.

I wonder if, until programs are fully merged, it will be possible to get both cards: easy 20k EQM for only $65k spend. This would work nicely if EQM can be moved/shared between the programs.

I'm wondering if they just do them all at the same time every month, and the timing is not related to your individual statement closing date.

I'm pretty sure mine just posted in the last day or two; my qualifying statement closed on the 4th. Maybe they're doing monthly sweeps, as that sounds a little quick.
Either that, or I miscalculated and didn't really need the 10K EQM -- but I'm pretty sure it just cleared. No notice yet from either AA or Citi that it's done so.

Does the card give you Priority Access at both security and the gate? Or is it that bogus priority that means Group 1 boarding and no expedited security?
To me, the shorter security line has meant the different between making/missing flights and it's always nice when traveling with the family. I've done mileage runs just to maintain status to get that amenity. But if this card gives that privilege, the annual fee beats the cost of the MR.

Generally how long does CitiBank require you to wait before reapplying for a new card? I have a Citi Card I have had since March and am thinking of Cancelling before the fee comes due. I am assuming that the Barclays US MasterCard will go away and at some point in 2014/2015 I will want the Citi card again.

Has anyone with a non-Executive Citi AAdvantage card gotten this 60K Executive offer successfully?

That's what I was about to ask. I just got my most recent AA Citi Visa Platinum over the summer. Do I have to wait 18 months if I want to apply for the Exec card also?
