Yes, it opened up a couple of days ago with the new seatmap and kept my original assignment.

Flying NRT-IAD route in May. While the plane is listed as an updated 777-300ER, seat maps for F are still the old open air configuration. When I go to the link for F seats, ANA lists 777-300ER for both the old and new boxed seats. Would ANA roll out a new aircraft and put in new "old style" seating? Or would this just be more evidence that IT hasn't updated past March?

When you look at the schedule at booking, the aircraft type should either be "777" (which is the old configuration) or "77W" (which is the new configuration). However, May is still a bit far out to be absolutely sure which configuration will be used.

Flying on July 12th... Noticed today that my itinerary says, "*This aircraft is scheduled to be changed. Please kindly be advised that the seat assigned through the current seat map might change accordingly."
Fingers crossed!

According to flightmapper - it looks like NH 2 will be the 777 until 10/25/14 (it says through 11/1/14 for NH 1 so unclear which it will actually be) when the 77W returns. My guess is the 77W is being moved somewhere with more paid F/J traffic for the summer months before coming back to DC for the fall / winter

I had the same message on my end of June itinerary for awhile, but still shows old seats.

Seat Type
Not to worry. Most flights are 777W with the new staggered business. About 2 weeks before departure, you booking seat selection will reflect the new aircraft seat map and you can choose the desired seat. Both my recent flights for NRT-IAD and back used the new staggered business class seats.

On IAD-NRT flights in April. Originally booked in older-style business class seats. Last week, however, the seat assignments were revoked and were listed as "processing." Then, this morning, ANA reassigned the seats in the new business class staggered configuration, about a month out from the first flight. So it looks like the 777W IOJ plane is taking over the IAD route. Good news!

Based on earlier posts it seems the old style will be back for the summer. My outbound from IAD on 8/27 continues to show the old configuration while the return on 9/6 says that it is scheduled to change. Apparently, the changeover will occur as of September 1st. I'm trying to see the glass as half full...
