However, It may be best for you not to risk it as this is a case of maintaining FB platinum for life! A mileage run may put your mind at ease.
All the best!

So I will get actually 60 extra points for free then? You are sure I will get my points in November in 2019 then? I am 9 years platinum and that last 60 points will make all the difference between platinum or not for me. Really wondering if it worth to risk it or do mile runs just in case.
Looking after XP, you can do the following strategy.(I am mentionning the dates that were relevant to my account so you can compare with your calendar) :
- Gold card yearly fees on statement (6th october), paid it (11th October) and got 30XP (13th oct)
- Applied for Plat card (13 october), got approved on 19th October) and got 90% of gold card fees back on 19th October
- Will get the yearly plat fee on my next statement (around 6th november), pay it a couple of days later and then get 60xp around 13th November
So if your statement is usually in early november, then you can get:
- 30XP in november 2018, 60XP in december 2018 and 60XP in december 2019
How many xp would you need in 2018 to maintain platinum ? Because of this, you can get 90xp for roughly 600€ right now and 60xp next year.

Thanks for your reply. I am fine for 2018 (got 359 XP), however next year I am not really planning to fly so much. Therefore, I am trying my best to do the least /pay the least and get the most XP. I just need 241 points next year.

The requirement to get either the Dutch or the French card is first and foremost that you have an income and a bank account in the country of where you apply for the card.
If I would like to consider the French card, which local french bank would you suggest to me for opening an account?
I do not care for any banking services other than online banking and to get the IBAN number to fill out in the application. I want zero monthly costs or at least very low monthly costs for the account, since it's only purpose would be to enable for an application for the french card. I also do not read french at all, nor do I speak it, so if a bank has an english verion of their online banking - then that's a clear plus! However, the most important thing is low monthly costs, since I would hardly use the account for other things than to pay the monthly card bill. Any suggestions would be highly welcome!

Privium Plus now comes with AMEX platinum.
Yet once again not with the AF/KL platinum card.
I'm seriously questioning if the AF/KL plat card is actually an airline/travel card as it doesn't seem to come with ANY of the benefits of one aside from the miles..
Compared to regular platinum: No Hilton gold, Raddisson or Starwood increased status, no priority pass, no centurion lounges and now no privium??
All we got was that the level miles on AF/KL spend was stripped out as a major benefit..
I'm switching over to regular platinum early next year, this is getting ridiculous. The miles, +60XP and plat for 2 benefits are not even close to matching above added benefits.

I agree. Unless your +1 can really make serious use of Platinum status, it's better to switch. Even an Amex Gold card is better.

I have the same sentiments as you have, but I hesitate. I am not there yet.
My rant for today:
I am retired and fly C, thus the extra Platinum level is not a tangible benefit, nor are the XPs for Platinum for life members.
Probably I should calculate the value of the ever devaluating Flying Blue miles.
Unfortunately the quality of phone support is, to say the least, inconsistent, with no possibility to complain about service quality, but I fear that there is one group of agents attending to all cards.
Somebody needs to remind me of the advantages of AMEX. Also MC has now a premium card with travel insurance.
The Flying Blue AMEX card is not a AF/KLM thing. AMEX paid a small fortune to KLM for the favour and I have seen little to none efforts by KLM to improve the product.

The AF/KL AMEX platinum card, simply is not an AMEX platinum card. It's not even close to being one anymore.
Benefit of AMEX compared to 'other' cards is saving up points. Benefit of the AF/KL AMEX is... dunno what the benefit really is for €600 a year now.., slightly more points with Flying blue compared to a real AMEX platinum I suppose. But I can push 5 points from AMEX for 4 FB points. Reduction? Sure, but not that much of a reduction tbh with recent devaluations anyway. Benefit is that normal AMEX points can also be pushed to $any_other_airline_or_hotel
So the AF/KL points lock-in for that card should exceed the regular AMEX benefits, it surely isn't anymore with this now also adding on. I have one more major trip for this year in two weeks from now, after that I'm cutting it over to a regular AMEX platinum. I'm directly saving cost on the Privium Plus I already have, making it cheaper for me as well.
Just have to break it to my brother that he's losing his FB plat status that I've given him ;-)

What is the problem? If there is no value for you in this product, drop it.

I don't think I've seen it mentioned here, but it is worth noting that Amex has rolled out Amex Offers (like in the US) on French Amex cards, including the AF-KL cobranded products. That might help find more value in the card for some!

I upgraded my gold FB amex to Plat. Question regarding plat for 2: I booked a flight for someone else and paid for economy comfort, if I share my platinum status with this person, is it possible to get the money back I paid for the economy comfort (flight is coming up in a few weeks)

you will need to request a second partner creditcard with his/her name on it (usually takes 1-2 weeks) and then once the card is in, ask AMEX to link that card to their FB number. (usually takes another 1-2 weeks until activated). So you'll be 3-4 weeks on before the other person hits platinum.
No idea if you can get the money back tbh

Getting the Privium offer in the mail this morning, seals the deal for me. There is no reason to use any of the FB amex cards unless you already are platinum with klm/af or for some reason _really_ need that 60xp to break a barrier. As the regular amex plat offers the same + more travel and flying(!!) advantages. Just cancelled mine and switched (obviously another barrier they impose is that you can not simply upgrade from one to another).
