We recently flew AF P again and enjoyed the inflight experience. We had a really amazing FA in P and she did a great job. By the way, I believe we have now cracked the code for how to get meat dishes prepared to the right level of doneness -- I like my meat done no more than medium rare. This is to tell the FA that as soon as the meat dish has reached its prescribed minimum cook time, it should be pulled out of the oven and served ASAP. If you don't tell them this, the meat will probably be served only when you are ready for it. If you like to take your time enjoying everything course by course, your meat will simply continue to cook in the oven reaching increasing levels of doneness and probably overcooked by the time you are ready. We gave this cooking request to our FA who was delighted to do it this way and thus very much enjoyed the steak a point/medium rare.

I will also review that I found a hair deep in my Ducasse ice cream in the P lounge, which I almost consumed. This was distasteful and very unfortunate -- from where it was, it appeared that the hair must have come from the Ducasse factory rather than from the service staff. The service was also not particularly attentive and it was sometimes very hard to find a waiter, in contrast to our previous visits.

P transfers at CDG were seamless and much appreciated. P escort at JFK did a great job and worked extremely well. Do note at JFK that there is now a more modern X-ray machine that allows you to get a true Precheck experience (no need to remove laptop or liquids). Ask the ground staff and the TSA docs checker to guide you to the correct line as it is not obvious. At the time we went, this was the second line from the left.

The P room at JFK is still serving the J menu for dinner. Waitstaff at JFK were more present and available than the ones at CDG.

Also, if you plan to nap in the P lounge there are two day beds, but note that this is not a fully enclosed room (it is partially enclosed by a curtain), and there can be a lot of noise in the corridor arising from staff not keeping their voices down or from an inconsiderate passenger trying to use the snooze zone as a phone room to make calls on his speaker phone (!).

This happened to me on ZRH-CDG-JFK, and they fed me in the lounge while rebooking me for the next afternoon (earliest available) and getting me a room at the Sheraton (with meal vouchers which I didn't use). Oh, and I got EC261 comp too. (To be fair, it would have been very tight to make the original flight, I don't know if they would have held the plane. Certainly the J pax on that flight from ZRH didn't make it as we came into a remote stand and they would only take me in the car.

thank you!

Flight from SFO got in about 45 minutes early, so had plenty of time in the lounge (about 1:45) - this was more than enough for me. Was able to pick up a purse at duty free for my family member in London while I was waiting for lunch to be prepared. Was able to take a
shower as well (only complaint is the lounge is kept so warm! and the shower temp control on the last shower suite on far right was very finnicky between scalding hot and frigid cold.

Im not a big “must use the lounge for all its worth” type of person, but it was very nice and PERFECT.

The main selling point of La Premiere for me is the ground service, as I just didnt want to deal with the transfer, security, etc at the airport(s) and this took away the need to worry about any of that. its nice when im just so tired from the week and needing to be ready for meetings in London when I arrived.

EDIT: have some time now that im done with meetings and can give this a better thought -

Departure from SFO
  • Got to the Check in counter at around 1:45PM for the AF 83 flight out of SFO. I had a ton of different things I needed to do in the morning, and from what I had heard, the AF lounge was crowded and I was under the impression that i’d be using the same one (albeit maybe in the VIP section that is sectioned off). Was pleasantly surprised when I was told that they would be taking me to the Virgin Clubhouse at SFO and able to use that lounge. I hadn’t eaten all day, so it was a perfect 1.5 hours in there for me to grab a salad + the fried chicken sandwich, and take some calls.
  • I used the Sky Priority Lane, and didn’t use the LaPremiere lane, as there was only one couple in that priority lane, and I didn’t want to cut them off by using the La Premiere lane. When I got to the counter, the VERY friendly ground staff did a double take once they realized I was in F, and told me next time to use the F lane and that it was all part of the experience. From there, was whisked through security, etc to the lounge.
  • I have to say, when departing the lounge, it was interesting that the ground staff had some back and forth of who wanted to take who to the gate, and it made for a tiny bit of an awkward encounter, as we’re waiting there and you can see them talking about who wanted to take who. (maybe this is something they should do prior to grabbing the customer)

Flight staff was nice, but I can definitely tell that I was prioritized a bit lower on the food chain than the rest of the F cabin. Purser went to each person before me, let them pick the amenity kit colors, set down the PJs, etc., and then addressed me last - and I didn’t get a choice of color, and just plopped the kit//pjs down on my seat and moved on etc. (small issues, but I think it was clear they knew I was a time of departure upgrade and not a “full fare” pax). I’d happily pay in the future, but I think this left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

However, once we were airborne, the service was great once I was able to tell them that I wanted to eat a bit later, and from there, the experience was fine in the air.

Arrival at CDG was fantastic, minus the remote stand and waiting on the plane for 30+ minutes for a covered jet bridge to come (as it was raining a bit).

Lounge was great as I had mentioned above, but something I can’t stand is how entitled some of the people in the lounge were. There were a couple pax who didn’t even look at the servers directly when ordering, barked orders, and acted like they owned the place. A little please and thank you doesn’t hurt anyone, and you can tell that while money can buy you a nice seat, it can’t buy you class. Saw another couple just ordering food for the hell of it and taking pictures and then only taking a bite or two - just seemed a bit wasteful.

Really loved the direct access to the duty free shops via the elevator direct from the club - that saved a lot of time//hassle.

Was escorted to the gate to LHR (no car, just walked) and boarding was fine. Really loved the small detail in protecting the overhead bin space for me, as that’s often time a PITA on US carriers.

I know the little complaints about others are pedantic, but I thought i’d just point it out. (apologies if I offended anyone)

Recently took an Antarctic cruise with Ponant, and one evening there were coquillettes on the menu. I of course ordered them to compare with the LP Lounge Ducasse version! Pictures below for visual comparison. They tasted almost identical once mixed, I don't think I would be able to differentiate in a blind taste test.

Stupid question, but would it make sense to have a sticky with the current LP destinations? Trying to find out which airports are currently served by LP to offer a gift, and appart from LAX/SFO/MEX/DXB/JFK that I'm aware of, I was wondering if there were (as of today) other LP destinations currently serviced by AF?

Paid Upgrade

Quick question: I have a flight from Rak-CDG-SFO. My check-in is available but I don't see a paid Upgrade option online. I see there are three seats available in P. Are the online paid upgrades at check in always available, or only for certain routes?

Impossible to say - 100% not systematic. Do wait until H-30 for the CDG-SFO and check again, they might be open for upgrade then. (If you checked right after your RAK-CDG checkin opened)

I would love to know if there is any intel on “service differentiation” by class of passenger. Like, do the cabin crew and lounge staff know if you have an award ticket, upgraded ticket or full fare ticket?

I remember the first time I flew P they knew that it was my first time without asking me. From trips in J I also know that they have info on your frequent flyer status.

For some reason I also believe that the level of “gift” you receive in the lounge is subject to what customer class you belong to. I have heard about full fare cash passengers receiving multiple items without asking.

What do you guys think? Is there a differentiation by “customer class” within La Premičre?

What I observed is that P paid PAX are asked first when it comes to food selection on board to make sure they get the dish they want .

Upgraded PAX from J to P at boarding gate are coming at the last .it’s not a golden rule but just based on historical observations

They are not entitle to private escort at arrival .
