Your prediction will probably turn out to be true, but while I can't be sure about the future J as it does not exist yet, I'm 100% certain about the lounge! And yes, a lesson in AF-speech/hope that repeating something over and again will make it true or that at the very least journalists will repeat it. Who knows, I wouldn't even be surprised if indeed they did!

Guys, I am so confused by all the changes at AF. Can anyone confirm that as a Flying Blue Gold, you do NOT get a free checked bag with most basic fare (called Basic) at HOP? But you do get a free checked bag with the most basic fare (called Mini?) at Air France.

I am considering buying a flight on HOP and I have a bag to check, so I just want to make sure I need to buy the luggage allowance.

Thanks in advance!

Just received confirmation from AF of what we were told previously by senior executives:

Nous vous confirmons qu'en tant que client Flying Blue Gold vous bénéficierez du transport gratuit d'un bagage en soute de 23 kilos, avec le tarif Mini Air France ainsi qu'avec le tarif Basic HOP (tarifs qui n'incluent pas de bagages en règle générale). Espérant que cette information vous permette de préparer au mieux vos futurs voyages, nous vous souhaitons une agréable fin de journée. »
So you do get the extra baggage benefit on the cheapest fares both with Air France Mini fares and Hop! for Air France Basic fares. ^

Edited to add that the extra baggage benefit is specifically not extended to SkyTeam Elite+ customers from other FFPs as HOP! is currently not part of SkyTeam.

Edited to add clarification for status holders (source: Produit sol HOP! April 2013 version)

If I remember right I read somewhere that Basic HOP (is it the cheapest fare?) There is no miles, except if you pay a €5 fee and then you get 250miles. Same goes for the 2nd cheapest fare. Moreover there was no indication about status segment.
Does someone recall that or can post the fare table ?

edit > http://www.hop.fr/vols

Promo - none
Jeune / Sénior / Famille - 250 miles pour 5€
Basic - 250 miles pour 5€
Basic Plus - Vols France : 400 miles Vols Europe : 700 miles
Maxi Flex - Vols France : 400 miles Vols Europe : 700 miles

Seat assigned only for Basic Plus & Fully Flex starting from 08/2013. Do we know anything about seat assignments for Elite/Elite + ?

No special treatment for us. We only get it on fares that allow it to everyone.

What does "no assignment" mean? Free seating (that would be novel to AF)? Or simply "we send you a BP by mail and that will be your seat, no possibility to change"?

"we send you a BP by mail and that will be your seat, change possible upon arrival at the airport"

And according to how the seat assignment algorithm works, get ready to seated middle seat row 17, one UM on each side

Does anybody know how all this will work with regard to segments? E.g, does a 0 mile fare trip will grant a qualifying segment (on an international trip for instance)?

For a segment to be qualifying, it needs to be for a flight on a fare eligible for mileage earning, so no qualifying segment if you buy a fare that is not eligible plus an option for miles.

Sounds sensible however I remember doing an AF trip within France a few years ago on which I earned 0 miles but 1 segment. I had this still in mind when I wrote the post.

Are you sure it wasn't the other way round? As far as I know, a flight earning 0 miles has always earned 0 segments. However, for French residents (except abonnes) for a long time, you have been able to earn miles but no qualifying segments. Also eligible non-skyteam partner flights (e.g. JL, MH, etc) will earn you 0 segments but some award miles.

Thanks for the info.

So if I recall correctly this is different from MINI where Elites can chose their seat assignment online at H-30, correct?

No, MiNi is the same - elites too only get the fixed assignment and can only change at the airport. No choice online.

BTW just found out AF spells it "MiNi" (capitals M and N and small i's) does anyone know why??

No idea. Reminds me of ni-ni of late 20th century French politics. Not glorious either
