I love the smoked salmon plate! (And so did most of the cabin, as everyone ate it).
The cheese plate is my second favourite. I was fortunate to have both this past weekend!
They also offered salted cashews with the snack instead of the almonds! Nice change!

Flew YYZ-YXE last week and have to say the meal was outstanding. It was roast chicken on a bed of puy lentils. One of the best meals I have had on a plane. Perhaps a little too much lemon in the lentils but I am being picky. Wines were a v passable NZ pinot gris and a solid French Syrah which was a great match with the chicken. The cheescake was good too. Really quite impressed.

To any crew poster/lurker...
For the Healthy Option, is the fruit bowl/plate actually plated, or does it come as-is?

The red-eye catering change in J sucks.
I usually either go for the pancakes or healthy option when I decide to get up and eat, and now I have neither option.
I'm really curious why AC has decided on this change.
Is it just cost cutting?

I had it this morning. A large plate of fruit that consisted of: melon, strawberries, blue berries, pineapple, pears, grapefruit and orange. A 2% fat yogurt included. Croissants available. Beverage selection too. I thought it was decent. As someone who regularly criticizes AC for its high fat meals, this simple option was excellent. Easier too on the FA as it was simple to serve and to clean up. I liked it.

Try finding possible servings but could not easily match.
I am taking the following in a month:
AC 174 YYC-YYZ 7:00
AC 7628 YYZ-BOS 14:20
AC 7377 IAD-YYZ 16:30 one class so most likely not serving anything
AC 1165 YYZ- YYC 19:50
need to know how to feed myself before taking the flights lol
I am sure folks took these flights before.

I assume you mean YYZ-YYC?
AC 174 YYC-YYZ 7:00 - hot breakfast - choice of three main courses IIRC
AC 7628 YYZ-BOS 14:20 - light snack such as potato salad with smoked salmon
AC 7377 IAD-YYZ 16:30 one class so most likely not serving anything - maybe a bag of pretzels? No idea.
AC 1165 YYZ- YYC 19:50 - dinner, choice of four main courses (see post #1 for details)

So today I flew from YVR-YEG on the 6:35AM departure, and noticed the omelette was not served. I'm so sad about that. How long has this been? I was served a fruit plate and a croissant.

(Personally, I'd prefer a few nice bread rolls and/or croissants along with some cold cuts and/or smoked salmon, but that's another story...)

I thought I read that it had something to do with it being an E90 and only having two FAs. If there are three, you get a hot meal. If it's not an E90, you get a hot meal.
E90s are the bane of my existence. They just suck for service.

So, apparently the hot breakfast (omelette) has been eliminated from YYC-YVR flights, as it was fruit and a croissant today. I recall seeing that it was eliminated on YOW-YYZ in 2015, but AFAIK that was route-specific and other short haul routes like YYC-YVR still had hot breakfasts after the YOW change.
Have hot breakfasts been cut from other short haul routes now? Is this route specific, aircraft specific (E90?), or is this a general change to short-haul breakfast flights?

It's E90 specific. New contract allows it to operate with only 2 FA, but says if it that is done, no hot food can be served in J. AC appears to have switched to 2 for short-haul, and stayed at 3 for the mid-cons.
So if you want a decent breakfast on the western triangle, make sure you're on a 320.
