OK so I've only seen it on long-haul flights to and from Ireland (and not recently, either). But it always struck me as analogous to applauding a waiter for getting your coffee to the table without spilling it.

The Clapping Thing --
Tel Aviv flights 95% of the time. Rome flights 75% of the time. |

I thought that was what you meant: FAs are just glorified waitresses. I guess by that same logic, pilots are just glorified bus drivers, ATC are just glorified CB radio operators and the mechanics who keep the planes up in the air are just glorified grease monkeys.
The next time that Alice's Diner catches fire and has an emergency landing, I'll be sure to watch when the wait staff puts the fire out, evacuates the building, and performs first aid on any injured patrons. I'm sorry this post has turned so sarcastic. It is not my intent to disparage wait staff, simply to point out that the two jobs are not comparable. Yes, most FAs, like wait staff, serve food. There the similarities end. I'll bet my tips that no person who compares FAs to wait staff ever leaves one. LOL a mechanic is the same of he works on the brakes on your car or fixes a tire on your plane :) Baggage handler same for a railway or a airplane, a pilot weather he flys jazz for $35k or 777 for $250k its the same........ dont be tricked by what a Union might want you to believe. |

the funny thing is the $10/hr paid guys will probably do a better job than the $30/hr paid guys. We may soon actually get checked baggage when we land!
