Don't forget that the more difficult they make it to redeem miles/points, they less they have to pay airlines for seats.
It's actually a pretty brilliant strategy.

It is.

Aeroplan should change the message you hear while on hold
"We hold your miles as hostage. Today's ransom fees are:....."

Of course I'm being sarcastic, but I guarantee I am not the only one who thinks the same thing.

That certainly explains all the outages, and long phone call waits or cutoffs.

They are on target to make the outages 24/7.

Brilliant. That's why the aeropeso management get big bonuses.

Aimia Business Code

Did Mr Duchesne actually read this drivel from the Aimia Code of Ethics document he makes all his staff understand?
...

Yes. Asked when unable to complete the booking due to tech issues. They refused.

QUOTE=jubberly;25540578]I've had the RBC travel redemption call centre waive the telephone booking fee by telling them that the RBC travel online site is down. I find it incredible if AE would not do the same. Its easy for a telephone agent to confirm the site being down....

Has anyone actually asked for the fee to be waived when their site was down?[/QUOTE]

You're all getting this wrong. You should be thankful of the uptime of AE. I have worked with the Aimia IT team. I'm surprised it works so well.

Unless you are SE, AE is a waste of time. Better collect hotel point instead of AE points. SPG offer 2 to 4x the value.

No, he's saying he's surprised we get the five minutes of uptime per day that we do considering the incompetent IT team Aimia has

Your requested itinerary cannot be booked at this time, please try again. If the problem persists, please call the aeroplan.com website support centre at 1-866-689-8080 FREE

Yes, YVR-YYZ is an impossible itinerary, I see.
