Eat, Drink, & Be Merry! On-Board Food & Beverage, 2026

Since it seemed to be successful in 2025, for 2026 we'll continue the approach of a single thread for all classes and destinations for 2025. (Special meals - kids', kosher, gluten-free, etc - continue to have their own thread).

Please post here any and all experiences relating to in-flight food and beverage service, including quality of food, menus, availability of different items, comments on service by the cabin crew, etc. For comments on food and service in AC-operated lounges, please visit the threads on those subjects (MLLs, Signature Suites, Cafs, as applicable).

This thread applies to all AC brands - mainline, Express, and rouge.

If someone wants to create a wiki with any general info on food, booze, etc, go ahead.

GUIDANCE REGARDING IMAGES

While many of us read primarily on our phones, many members still read FT on computers or in desktop mode and have commented to the moderators out about meal photos. Large images, especially those taken in portrait mode, often cause considerable need for scrolling and make meal threads difficult and frustrating for those members to follow. They can also consume a lot of data for those roaming.
  • When posting, please consider:
    • Reducing the size of your images, either using your phone/camera's in-built function or a site like this one
    • Using the spoiler tag (on the visual post tool, it's the + in a box next to the quotation marks) to hide the images
  • When replying, if quoting a post, please delete the image(s) from your reply unless they're absolutely necessary to your post. This is even more applicable if there are multiple images in the post you've quoted
    • Quote-replied images are particularly noxious, since the same image often gets quoted over and over, making the thread very long and hard to follow
    • Even if the OP has not used the spoiler tag, if you want to keep the image accessible rather than deleting it, you can insert a spoiler tag around the image

These aren't formal rules (although sometimes a post quote-replying to many images could be considered disruptive), but many members of the FT community would greatly appreciate it if they were followed.

PRE-ORDERING

If you have questions about pre-ordering (on what flights it's available, when you can submit pre-orders, etc) or issues with the process (website not working, pre-order not being in the system when you take the flight, and so on), please visit the pre-ordering thread. This thread should be about the in-flight experience, both the food and beverage itself as well as service.

OTHER THREADS RELATED TO IN-FLIGHT CATERING

As noted above, if you require or are interested in meals catering to specific religious or dietary sensitivities - children, vegetarian, Hindu, etc - please visit the special meals thread for information on how to order them as well as the meals themselves.

If you're wondering what kind of cocktails (i.e. 3+ ingredients, not just rum & Coke, gin & tonic, etc) you can make with the on-board supplies, look here.

Some FTers have tried to replicate certain AC meals at home. Those experiences are documented here.

Want to know the proper procedure for taking meal orders? This thread has you covered

OLD CATERING THREADS

The 2025 thread is here. For anyone wishing to browse the threads that ran from July 2021 to the end of 2024, please see the list in the spoiler below.

Pre-order only "Korean Beef Bibimbap" on AC854. A photographer, I am not. Was... fine.

Well thats a new one.

Im sorry sir, but since weve had a lot of pre-orders on this flight, the only choice available is the omelette.

Fine, whatever, but we were the first ones offered a choice in the cabin, which I guess means they loaded whatever was preordered, plus a couple omelettes, and called that done.

Fair warning, for the pancake aficionados out there!

I would expect what really happened was the flight was mis-catered and you got an idiotic answer from someone making it up on the fly.

AC YVR-YYZ Signature Service. I actually enjoyed the Chicken Marsala reminded me of a TV dinner, but well-executed and felt like good comfort food.
Spoiler

Pre-ordered sweet and sour pork. While not authentic, it was not bad and I liked how the pieces of pork were larger than the equivalent pieces of chicken (felt like slightly better meat).

Bbq chicken on Yyz-Yhz today.

Do not recommend. Sauce overly sweet. Chicken thighs overly gristly. Rice was highlight of the dish. In hindsight would have preferred SE free snack.

Late entry but, the catering ex-AKL was quite good when I flew AKL - YVR earlier this month.
Some excellent (?) multigrain sourdough, and the garlic bread was the thickest and crispiest I've had yet on AC.
Entree was beef short ribs which I also quite enjoyed (far superior to the catering ex-YVR/YYZ/YUL). Cheese plate also different from the AC baseline.

For me personally. Catering outside of Canada tend to be much better. Even SA catering fare better vs ex YYZ

My upcoming NRT-YVR flight offers Beef Tenderloin. The Japanese flights are the only ones that I know of that still offer decent beef dishes. Presentation is usually nice too.

Minor gripe.

Boulevardier and Aperol Spritz have been on the business class menus for long haul for many months if not more than a year?

Twice in a row I've had senior flight attendants look at me perplexed when I order these and have to read the menu to figure them out.

Furthermore today on ICN YYZ they announced the vermouth was out of stock.

The pork Milanese was okay, especially for an AC dish... It was quite rich, and could have used more pork, but I'd likely order it again.

Based on the photo, it looks like it's floating in a puddle of oil...

Also a warning - DO NOT pick Sweet/Sour Pork - hands down it was beyond disgusting. Pick the chicken dish if you are in PY.
I didnt even take a picture because it looks like... (NSFW)...
