Wild delays out of YYZ, 292 minutes average... good luck.

Had YYZ-IAH on the 19th, then 20th DFW-ORD-YYZ. Don't trust it all, so I'll drtive to DTW from Guelph and do nonstops. No SQM/SQD LOL.

We are being told that 887 will leave YUL at 6pm and we are 6th inbound. No word on any connecting flights, I expect a full on disaster. Hopefully there are a bunch of available aircraft sitting around from earlier cancellations. The trick is going to be what they prioritize to operate.

lcohen999 Feb 17, 2025 3:54 pm

I was at YYZ today (as I posted in the other forum). Concierges seemed...powerless...to help. Everything just kinda stopped. I am on hold now to get my flight re-issued as i need it...as time of this post, on the SE line, I am at 1h45min.

Watching the board go red was out of a movie.

sitting on the ground in PIT with at least 4 other diverted aircraft - refueling is underway and looks like we’re back in the air in an hour - will be cutting it close to the crew’s max day if things run later. I can’t imagine all of the moving parts.

Concierges were locked out of the system and coudln't make any changes - res was still able to make moves.

Yup, My hold time with res is 2 hours now

I received an email about an upgrade, so that was my sign that some things were coming back online.

My flight status had blacked out on the app for about 30 minutes.

Thanks to everyone at AC and throughout the whole aviation system for getting passengers around safely.

update: onboard AC93 and the captain announced smooth flying conditions and didn’t anticipate any issues upon our arrival in YYZ tomorrow at 05:40.

Final update: we parked at the gate about 13 minutes ahead of schedule. I can go straight to work. Best of luck to everyone affected by the delays. Hope you get to where you wish to be asap.

Not sure why people are expecting instant satisfaction from Concierge or Res or Auto-rebooking when AC doesn't even know yet from the airport what they will be able to operate and when...bit unrealistic in the middle of an evolving emergency situation IMO. Pack your patience people, things were a mess and people/systems stressed from the storm before this happened...it's going to take days for everything to return to normal.

Call the concierge line and hit 2 (for flights outside of 24 hours), I got through both times in front of the concierges (to Res) within 30 seconds and was able to get everything sorted within a few minutes.

I've been doing this a long time and I know how it goes, I have no ill will. It is more a shame they could not do anything as was mentioned before they were locked out. Just made them helpless. They tried and I give them top marks.

Yup, I decided to try that on my wife's phone and getting my ticket cleaned up now

Not sure what you expected them to do specifically when the airport was under a full closure and AC had no idea what they will be able to operate. YYZ is going to be massively restricted in terms of capacity so it's going to take some time for AC to determine what flights it can/will operate. You also now have planes/crews where they are not supposed to be, surely crews will be timing out, so this is going to be messy, for a while.

Oh, and there's probably 20k people (or more) in the same boat, so prepare to get in line.

Why the hostility ? As I said, I felt bad for the situation they were in and have no ill will in any way. Also, at the time, no one knew what was going on, so making my way to the office was always priority one so I can make a plan for the balance of the week.

But just as it seemly needs to be repeated, I am very happy with the YYZ crew (as I always am), they did their absolute best in an impossible situation

It seems flight status via the app has been disabled or is down at the moment
