You must call in for stopovers, multi-city, or complicated routings, until the new booking system launches in 2021.

I hope others will significantly improve this wiki!

There are four zones: North America (inc Central), South America, Atlantic (including India and Western Russia), Pacific (inc Eastern Russia) and the chart is based which one you start from and which one you end up in, there's ten of these.

Cost is based on distance, which zone pair your flight is in, which class you are flying in.

Partner airlines (again) are a better deal because while Air Canada will calculate cost on a wide ranges but partner airlines are fixed to the bottom of the range.

YQ is eliminated. There's a 39 CAD fee for booking a ticket which contains a flight on a partner airline. Aside from this, there's no incentive any more to book a return flight it seems and every incentive not to.
Note: The partner booking fee is refundable, so it's basically a YQ, rather than a booking fee.

Most flights are devalued. However, the elimination of YQ sweetens this significantly. Within North America, a lot of flights became cheaper, YVR-HNL very significantly. YVR-TYO is much cheaper while YVR-AKL is a little cheaper.

A vastly more powerful booking system is promised for 2021.

There are a lot of new tricks to be learned. https://princeoftravel.com/blog/new-aeroplan-flight-rewards/ is a good start.

Information that is harder to find:
  • SE IKK redemption from the old program can be changed ("within reason") without repricing. Dates, routings, no problem. Origin/destination should be fine. But nothing that would have required a repricing under the old program. This is from Mark Nasr in https://www.facebook.com/pointsmiles...44878252851420
  • The "Activity" page only shows you the most recent ~48 transactions. See this post for information on how to get older data.
  • A partial refund may not be possible (e.g. if you book RT and outbound flight is cancelled by you or AC, to delete the first flight segment, you have to cancel the entire ticket and rebook the inbound at a potentially higher fare. It seems supervisor can grant exceptions.)

Right now, it's as before, so "6370" (if that's the previous number, I suspect the new one is bit lower) x2.

Later in 2021, it will switch to basically SQD x N, but it's STILL not clear how the 100% bonus select benefit will translate over. It could be 3x base + (4x SE)x2, or (3x base + 4x SE)x2. The former makes more sense to me, but the latter lines up much better with UA's earnings when you factor in forex.

According to the rules: yes, no problem at all. But currently finding an agent who is capable of booking it at the correct price is still a challenge.

So is this right Cow? These are all the AP points I got from these 2 segments. And I did choose the 100% bonus AP points (as shown on my account).

The 100% bonus would post separately. Those entries look correct.

Will call them later as there's no separate posts for the bonus AP points. Thanks cow.

FWIW I've booked one trip involving several 10-hour+ layovers that priced out, correctly, as a single bound.

And though I can't get my most recent attempts to come in at the correct points price, each also included several 10-hour+ layovers that if split into bounds at those breaks would have cost considerably more than what they wanted to charge (eg. 310k vs 150k).

The most recent included 2 layover of 17 hours, and one of 22 hours.

But even if they had split it at the 22 hour layover mark, it would have priced out at 160k instead of 150k.

So based on that I'm assuming the 24 hour rule still applies to Aeroplan bookings.

i reviewed my notes from the conversation. AE rules are now different than AC rules in this regard.I believe the 24 hr rule still applies to international routes on an AE tx. I’m booking a transborder tx so didn’t ask about international in that conversation.

There is definitely a new “10 hr rule”. The expectation is that with a connection, one takes the last flight of the day at point of origin and the first flight out the next day for your itinerary. Anything different is considered two one-ways.

If the connection runs slightly over 10 hours and one takes the last flight from point of origin according to the schedule, they “might” be able to force it. The10 hrs is calculated from scheduled arrival time at connection to scheduled departure time from connection.

I did an extensive search and did not find this info written anywhere but the agent was absolutely certain of it. I was also told it might not apply if AC cancelled the flight and had to rebook you.

This rule does have an exemption when the shortest-possible connection is longer than the normally-allowable maximum.

Hmm, looks like this wasn't fully updated for 2021.

https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ification.html

As of January 1, 2021, Basic fares are no longer eligible to earn Status Qualifying Currencies. You are, however, able to earn redeemable Aeroplan points on Economy Basic fares.
Now it matches what the website says.

I assume they mean other airlines?

It sure doesn't read that way.
