From post #49 in this thread, here's one potential way to (re)inflate an AC seat:
A better method is for a crew member to use the reset switch under the seat, on the aisle side.
Compensation offers (green/white sheet completed)
40K AE- Apr 18 (50% back of the J class one way redemption)
2018 Jun - $500 coupon
2018 Sep $1,000 eCoupon or 40K AP (P fare TPAC)
2018 Sep $500 eCoupon (P fare TPAC) (no change on protest- update - 6 months later the $150 was increased to $500 - admitted they had made an error)
Compensation offers (no green/white sheet completed)
100K - May 5 (C$150 eCoupon; was moved to a functioning seat after meal service)
2017 Sept - 8,000 AE miles - reported via complaint web page after realizing it was a faulty seat, not standard discomfort; Asked for return of eUps but they declined.
2017 Nov & 2018 Feb - $500 coupons both times (second time on protest that $500 had been offered the previous time)
2018 Sep. $250 coupon (on a paid J TATL).
2018 Nov - $500 eCoupon (J TATL)
Standard eCoupon compensation offers (no haggling; following a recurring pattern)
~10+ hours: $1000
Long TPAC (TPE-YVR)
~6 to ~10 hours: $500
Short TPAC (NRT-YVR)
TATL
South America: YYZ-GRU
less than ~6 hours: 300

Have a Service Director (SD) That Is Giving You the Case of the Shrugs? Like the real life version of this ASCII emoji -> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ?
No success with the SD and/or crew rectifying your deflated seat and you can't be/aren't accommodated to another J seat? If you asked for a compensation form and the SD says they have no idea what you are talking about, you can use the below picture of the stub portion to help freshen their memory (better than nothing)...
Please note that for the longest time, the "Green Compensation Form" version was used, and there have been recent reports of the "White Compensation Form" replacing the Green version. Reports here have indicated that the two forms are virtually identical except for the colour.
There is now an even newer White Form which explicitly lists "deflated seat" and "deflated seat and fixed", among many other items.

From post #49 in this thread, here's one potential way to (re)inflate an AC seat:
- Go the home screen "Your Seat". (find this on the seat side panel; not the main video screen)
- Hold the top left hand corner "Air Canada" (with AC logo) for 3 seconds. Updated (Apr 9 18): may need to hold for as long as 45 seconds for key pad to appear
- Dial pad shows up - hit 3-2-1.
- Press "Reset Lumbar Support"

I went rogue and bought a different brand, size, and colour. This is my 7th deflated seat in the last 11 J-flights since mid-December. While I'm still frustrated with the need to have to deploy the air mattress, I'm glad that I've got it as an option.

Look at the top of the second photo .... you can see that the AC mattress pad strap is also around (and thus, securing) the inflatable mattress.

Nice SD but made it clear they wouldn’t let it delay pushing. And they would do musical seats with non/revs. So called concierge as well and said wouldn’t fly and had had enough.

I'm currently in Asia (flew EVA on my way here, a whole different level of service but that's for another thread) and I already dread my return flight on AC... It should not be like this.

I would observe that standing your ground against Aeronautics Act is a good way to get into serious trouble. While I don’t disagree with not accepting this mess, if your actions purposely delay your flight, and then you can be offloaded for a very different reason if you cause a stir and the crew doesn’t want you on board anymore.
The solution of just accepting or bringing mattresses just feeds the problem… Write to AirCanada, don’t accept their compensation, and make a stir this way, will be more affective and start to impact the bottom line.

If I’m flying paid J YYZ DEL (or any other route) at $3k each way $1k compensation ain’t going to cut it. Especially if I have to work or fly on again shortly after arrival.

1) Inflate
2) place on seat in partial-recline
3) Put mattress pad over sleeping pad
4) Attach sleeping pad to chair as per normal with the elastic
5) sit down as per normal.
6) buckle seatbelt across waist as per normal.
7) SD quite happy with solution; stated cannot have air mattress installed during take-off/landing
Of note: the air mattress raised me 2" off the seat inhibiting sleeping on my right side due to the tray table; sleeping on left side was not impeded.
And why do I put up with it?
1) Air mattress is acceptable fix to me;
2) Pushing for MM this year
3) AC just "paid" for me and my son to go YYZ-YVR in a couple weeks in J to see a Canucks game (due to OBC from this trip).

Two things:
1) For AC34 YVR-YYZ, I got moved to a different seat (yay) but they put some poor sod in the deflated 11A instead (not cool) .
2) I spent the latter half of AC34 SYD-YVR bantering back-and-forth about compensation for the deflated seat with Customer Care. Out of that conversation came this:
Hello Mr. YVRtoYYZ
I was in contact with Inflight about these seat inflation issues on our 787 and 777 fleet and they sent me the following information;
Super Diamond Seat Cushion Leak
Update
The cushions leaking on the Super Diamond seats on the B787 and B777 has been a known issue for some time now. A solution for this issue was expected from the cushion manufacturer in December 2018, but due to some certification issues, the availability of the solution has been delayed to April 2019.
