Wow, the CBC is right on top of the news.

Of course CBC doesn't read FT :D

Just checked my aeroplan transactions and I got my COS for my upgrade. Not sure why/how the agent put me in C class after the bid, but I'm grateful.

Y'all really need to learn that what goes on FT is seen by AC.

Rinse. Repeat. And BOLD

I haven't received a bid offer from AC yet, but always get an offer for LMU. I wonder if the bids are sent to everyone or if targetted.

When I was flying to YYZ-FRA and FRA-YYZ flying PY I got the notice about bidding, thought it was funny.

I got the same offer. The email is actually from "Air Canada" <[email protected]> The actual page is operated by upgrade.plusgrade.com. and it mimicks NZ bid page graphics. Offer strength indicator tells me that for $1800 my chance for an upgrade YVR to YYZ next week is excellent. Good for me but I have misplaced my credit card. What a bummer!:)

This ad nauseum.

Bid email just arrived.

The link from the email opened to this page with the dials in the positions shown.

Looking at the amount asked, it seems $800 for the outbound is considered "good", but "less good" or possibly "fair-good" for the return.

This is crazy.

I can fly to LAX from YYZ for <C$600 one-way on UA in P. On flights with better or more desirable departure and arrival time, it's about C$700 one-way.

Any news? I booked a trip from Vienna to Canada over Frankfurt last week over Expedia and only received a Lufthansa booking number(the long flights are operated by AC though). On the LH page I couldnt modify the op by AC flights so I called AC Reservations and they gave me a AC booking number. But when I try to go to the upgrade bid site and enter my details I also get "We are sorry, there is no space available". I find that hard to believe 4 months ahead of time. We booked Economy Lowest and flights are AC 873 on July 18th and AC 844 on August 1st. Thanks

I might be interested in purchasing an upgrade to lie-flat business class YVR-YUL in ten days. Minimum bid is $ 520. Cabin looks fairly open right now. I am wondering if :

1) The minimum would go any lower
2) If upgrades are offered for less during online check-in.

I don't always purchase upgrades but do so sometimes if the price is good. Air Canada tends to be expensive in this department. I' ve upgraded TATL flights on KLM and Air France for 250 Euros last year and AA transcons for $ 300.

Sometimes offered (check out the Last Minute Upgrades LMU thread). Depends on what your original fare was as well.

ArnoldB Mar 20, 2017 5:34 am

The bid range for my flight AC325 on July 25th is 400CAD to 1200CAD (pre-set at 600CAD for "fair"). Is that a good offer? To me it seems very expensive.

In comparison an exit-row-seat(57cad) + meal(10cad) + complimentary drinks(not interested in alcohol on this flight) = 67cad.

And since it's an A321 the business seat is merely a "normal" business seat and not a pod or something. So not sure if I see the value. Would be cool still because in europe most of our airlines don't even have special business seats on narrowbodies but just keep the middle seat free.

Also what are the chances the big range will drop within the next months? And are last-minute-upgrades usually cheaper or more expensive?
