AC874 YUL-FRA
J7 C7 D6 Z0 P0 R0 O0 E0 N0 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 L9 K9
To PE : 800 to 2000 CAD
To J : 950 to 4000 CAD

AC825 AMS-YYZ
J7 C7 D7 Z6 P0 R4 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 L9 K9
To J : 750 to 2200 CAD

AC420 YYZ-YUL
J7 C7 D7 Z6 P0 R9 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 G9 S9 T9 L9 A0 K9
To J : 150 to 700 CAD

Interesting to note that they are still offering bids to PE on YUL-FRA even when PE is apparently sold out...

maybe some of those PY are looking to eUp to J?

when i look at my ticket, it does not say class I for my premium economy seat, but the aeroplan agent swear, it's in the AC system that this is a business reward ticket already.

I just received 2 request first one yyc-yyz upgrade 660-2000. 2nd one yyz-yyc in 767 pods 600-1500. Both made me laugh I would not pay that in a million years I will wait and see if there are any LMU when I check in they are way cheaper. I would be curious if anyone has actually paid for $600-1500 to fly one way upgrade business class. Maybe it is just me, but that price is absolutely instanity.

What I find crazy is that those prices are lower than my own upgrades as a 50k. I only fly Tango and therefore have no opportunity to use my eupgrade credits. With the new ability to use them on Tango fares, I'd have to pay 750$ for the privilege of using credits for a single flight segment. But people can bid less money than that for the same privilege without status. Pretty frustrating.

There is evidence that even with positive R space, the low bids are rejected.

So yes, you can "bid" less than $750. You can also call AC and offer them $100 for a J upgrade. While both approaches may sometimes work, most of the time, you're still going to be sitting in the back.

The fare difference between Tango and lowest Business YYZ-YYC OW on a narrow body is generally about $1,200. So I think a price of $700~825 to upgrade from Tango to Business is a reasonable price. This represents a 20~30% discount. In this case, I would bid between $660 and $825.

Yes, I'd pay an additional $660 up to $825 to fly in business class.

YHZ to YYZ on AC623 narrow body Tango K.
Email bidding suggested $300 to $900 with $400 preselected.
At check in AC offered upgrade for $214.
Another option $150 + 6 eups.
Declined all.

Given the fare difference between Tango and lowest Business is usually about $470, $400 is not worth it but $300 would be marginally okay.

LMU at $214 is okay and $150 + 6 eups is okay too IMO.

YUL-PLS, AC1252 on A319. Paid fare is Tango T. Bid range was $150 to $325; I bid $160. Accepted.

Flight time is 4:15 so even on a mainline 319 I'm satisfied with the value.

They're also taking bids ($190-385) on the return flight, which is showing J0 R0 Y0. Not expecting that one to go through.

The FAQ says:

The amount of your offer is not the only factor that determines whether you will receive the upgrade, however it is an important component. Upgrades are selected based on seat availability, the number of offers received and other factors that are at Air Canada’s sole discretion; as such there is no guarantee that your offer will be accepted, even at the highest permitted level.

Is it likely that Altitude status is one of the "other factors"? I'm flying YYC-FRA next week, booked in PY. I'm E50K and it would be 21eUps plus $500 to upgrade to J, but the range they've offered for bidding is only $600-1200 to upgrade. Considering that LMUs seem to have been trending up after the holidays, and full fare J would be $$$$$$$ right now, the bidding range actually doesn't seem too bad.

Received an email to bid on YEG-YUL (320) from Tango (T); range from $500 - $1100 ($700 pre-selected)

Same email for YUL-YHZ (E90) from Tango (T); range from $225 - $700 ($375 pre-selected).

YUL-YYZ
Aircraft: 333
Bid range: $150 - $700
A bid starts to be "good" at $370
Load: J9R9Y9

YYZ-YVR
Aircraft: 789
Bid range; $800 - $2,750
A bid starts to be "good" at $1,520 (!!!!!!!)
Load: J7R0Y2

YVR-YUL
Aircraft: 333
Bid range: $750 - $2,000
A bid starts to be "good" at $1,170
Load: J9R9Y9

In other words, upgrades cost anywhere from $1,700 to $5,450 which puts my total trip cost at about $2,875 to $6,625.

If I were to buy a business class ticket today, I'd be charged about $3,600. So I guess I can save a few hundred dollars if bids at the lower end of the scale get accepted, but if I stick with "good" bids, I'd overpay for J to the tune of $600+.

seriously...has anyone actually purchased an u/g through this silly system? The prices are ridiculous....

Air Canada auctioning off flight upgrades online

Air Canada is turning to an age-old method to fill empty seats in its business and premium-economy cabins – and generate extra revenue.

The airline is auctioning off flight upgrades online and urging its passengers via e-mails to participate. Air Canada began testing online auctions in a pilot program late this past year, but plans to make it available across its network by this summer.
