They do fly YYZ-LIS, absolutely. Daughter and family, all four of them, is booked on that flight next December. BTW I am curious as to when they'll start runnig the 339 on that route. Could not find any information anywhere; but it appears they have started scheduling the 339 on the Brazil routes. Presumably competing directly with LATAM. While the NA routes cater mostly to Portuguese immigrant communities, so they are lower value-added. Competing with Rouge vs. competing with the premier Latam route.

I stand corrected. I just looked and in the fall TP is running the 339. The other difference is the time. TP is at 18:25 out of LIS and Rouge is earlier in the day at 12:55. So if you are connecting to western cities in Canada or US the Rouge time is better for a connection.

My daughter connects to AGP in LIS. Next day.

This is true, and we just stayed the night in YYZ and connected to YVR the next day.

TP was MUCH better than AC rouge, and has the advantage of star alliance.

For the original question- I think AC should make YYZ-LIS mainline and not rouge and the volume could support a 788/9 easily.

Would be nice. Still, surely this is a low yield route, most traffic being Portuguese immigrants visiting home, very price-sensitive and little high fare premium business. So I would be surprised seeing this happening. They already seem to make good use of the few 788s.

Many of which could be freed up after (assuming) the Max returns to service. They've been busy running consolidated Max routes of late.

When she does that, does she stay at a hotel by the airport or does she go into the city? That does sound appealing if she is able to add a short city visit.

If you are asking about my daughter, their connection is pretty short, and they are travelling with two small childern, 9 and 6. So I suspect they'll just stay at the airport.

This is true, but the Rouge is even more expensive than the TP. Much worse seat and service. I was very surprised by this. This was also my first time flying in the back on Rouge and I understand some people's quotes here, "friends don't let friends fly rouge".
Only beef with the TAP is the really poor in flight video, super old screen and unable to pause/rewind films. But this is still better than Rouge imo, without any tv.

I see AC now has a direct to Munich (MUC) from YVR. Given the amount of time I spend in AC metal this is one route I have never taken but I may need to this October or November so went looking and see now that they are discontinuing it. Is that really the case (if anyone knows) or is it only a seasonal run?

Do you mean the codeshare on LH by any chance? On a 359, J cabin not so great.

Not sure - simply saw it in the routing offered by StarAlliance site. J in a 359 would not be a treat for sure.

I noticed it on the schedule one day, but I had no idea it was that long-term. 571 is timed quite well for me too

Edit: There are PY fares filed for Jul 1 through Jul 31, but none for August. Interesting. But they're like 90% of the cost of a J fare, and both are way more than a FP credit.
