Yep. We affectionately called the 345 seats, "Wedgie Seats".

A340-500 as the first two were on YYZ-HKG routes

Air Canada was very excited about buying these and i believe they had about 15 in the fleet. Lasted a few years, they also licensed the Air Canada A340-500 models through Herpa.de
I wish I kept all of my pictures as I actually had pictures of the registration plate and the outside of the plane
I recall it was a beautiful evening in Vancouver as we stood on the roof of the Air Canada Hangar watching the evening sky. I should have been focusing on the plane!

There were two A340-500s and thirteen A340-300s in the fleet.

Those pictures are not of an A340-500. The -500 never had those J class seats, and you can see the reg in the flight deck: C-FTNP, which was one of 3 lower gross weight versions of the -300 that AC flew.

So I stand corrected......I have lived a lie all of these years. Wished I had kept all of the pictures!

FYI the BIN is common for everyone, and the CODE is a just basically a check digit with Lundt, so if you're going to redact something, the single check digit hides more than the 627421.

Here's the published timetable for October 1962.
CP Air: Canadian Pacific Airlines Timetable Aug 1 1962 to Oct 27 1962

The published flight number doesn't match your certificate.
I guess published information wasn't guaranteed back then either.

My guess is that this was a special charter flight.

Some of the prices are eye watering. YVR-AMS return in first was $1214.10 and in Economy was $700.30. The F price was about 1/10 of a very nice house in Calgary at the time. Or a further look at the Calgary Herald classifieds for August 1962, I could have bought a one year old Pontiac Parisienne V8 with 8000 miles on it for $1800.

With all this talk of the old paper certificates, my somewhat aging grey matter is telling me that in the first few years of Super Elite an upgrade with a SSWU could be snagged at the time of booking regardless of fare class or date of travel.
Was this true or am I suffering from old timers??
