Recognizing your loyalty

Upon entering YVR TB MLL, "Thank you Mr. cow, and thank you for your loyalty to Air Canada."

On board, 13A and 13D both had SEs that were welcomed by the SD.

New standard? One offs?

Hoping for New Standard, but my money is on One Off. In five MLL the last week, no thank you for flying AC.

I've been noticing SEs (both myself and others) being thanked much more both onboard and on the ground, I assume it's a new standard.

If it hadn't been the lounge entry AND the onboard, I wouldn't have posted.

I just thought that witnessing both on the same day might signify something larger.

I guess not

Not SE but have had this on recent flights and at MLL. Seemed genuine. Not consistent experience though.

I'd say, IME, it is 1 in 20 MLL visits and 1 in 6 flights (flights are 80% TATL/TPAC, 20% medium haul), for the past couple years. No increase/decrease in occurrence.

This.

I get the random loyalty/business thanks from check in agents, gate agents (the most rare), and SDs.

I've never had it in a lounge before, and I usually get "something" that recognizes me as SE on board in J.

It's been a long time since I've flown mainline Y, but I had never received anything official in Y.

There was a week or two a while back where every GA said "Thank you Mr. cow" when I boarded.

Is it that important that this be acknowledged? Most people don't care. If anything, they want to keep low profiles.

Everyone is different.

Regardless, don't really think it was cow's point.

Thank you.

SD went through the entire J cabin before landing thanking everyone, saying something like "I hope the crew was able to make up for the late departure."

It was nowhere near the best crew I've had, but compared to most other airlines, it was amazing. I got everything I wanted with no wait, and my SE friend in Y is happy.

The closest I got to an acknowledgement as an SE was by the check in agent.

"Oh you're a superelite, you look too young to be one".

I've been thanked often on my flights...well enough to notice, but like others it's not 100% consistent. Having said that, the fact that it's not 100% consistent makes it more genuine to me.

I've also been thanked while sitting in the Y cabin.

Of four TPACs over the last five weeks, all in J, wasn't acknowledged in any way (other than meal preference) even once. MLL, practically never.

Only exception in recent memory was last month on a SFO/YVR flight where I gave my teenage son my J seat and sat with my wife in economy. SD came back to thank me for being MM.
