If it were that simple, they'd just charge it on all airlines.

I always assumed some of their agreements had clauses that somehow didn't allow it...otherwise they would. (pure speculation)

Exactly, or something along those lines. Maybe its related to costs of purchasing seats from some partners, etc.

I m quite surprised that they are giving up this cash cow on AC metal - but I dont think they are doing it to be nice to SEs - perhaps an SEs (presumably people with most points available to redeem) - flying on AC metal costs them less than if the same SE redeemed the same points on a partner.

I don't think the March 1 conversion is going well.
OMG that can't be true?

I would be so happy if that was the actual error message. That somebody who codes for AE has played SC and isn't chobo would make my day. So gosu.

No I am not going to decode that for anybody.

My assumption was that they can't impose YQ on carriers if those airlines don't charge YQ in their redemptions. But if the airline charges, AC will also charge but still doesn't mean they share it with the operator.

We've been over this many times. Since YQ never makes it past AC's hands - what the operating carrier charges or doesnt charge to their own FF members on awards, or even on revenue tickets is irrelevant to what AC charges as co-pay on Aeroplan awards.

The likes of TK and SQ charge YQ to their own programs, yet AC chooses not to.

Indeed.
I m with Dorian on this one - if they could, they would charge it on all airlines, so there must be a reason.

SQ is YQ free, yet if you redeem SQ KF miles, you get hit with YQ.
