Preparation is the key (Part 2):

Go to eBay, Amazon, etc, and purchase one of these:

(on a budget)

or
(money to spare)

or
(money to burn)

2. Acquire helmet -- motorcycle, bicycle (if cost is an issue), or leather (if space is an issue). If anyone asks you're on your way to or home from skiing trip, motorcylce adventure, etc.

3. Acquire goggles. If anyone asks, well, you know the drill.

4. Carry on all items.

5. Midway through flight, don all items.

6. Sit back, and depending upon mood, look:
a) nervous,
b) evil, or
c) totally relaxed.

Falling down laughing, but I'm sure that was not your intention.

At 6' 6" in economy seat curvature means no lumbar support. EnRoute folded or rolled does the trick nicely while neighbour's Enroute folded provides a good headrest extension. (The magazine is destroyed however).

Ken...lol

I actually had a chat with a pilot about a parachute the other day.

YYZ-SFO
"Wait you're going to Salt Lake? We're going to fly right over there on our way to San Francisco."

So with the reminder that parachutes came up, guess where that conversation went

I'm 6'1" and I carry a 12" x 12" x 2" block of memory foam in my backpack, tucked in behind my laptop.

It's a perfect filler for the total lack of lumbar support on the 319, mostly solves the seat hammocking on the 767 and is especially useful in resolving the s***ty placement of the headrest on AA/US CRJs.

Surprised this hasn't been added yet (if so, my mistake!). On flights with SkyCheck, board last. Your bags are first off...

Not in my experience. Every time I've used sky check (and in EYW, my backpack wouldn't fit in the DH1/3 overhead bins, so I've used it a lot in recent memory), the cart comes out with all the bags on it.

But the last cart is loaded on last, no? I mean the skycheck cart...

Like CC, I've never seen this happen on AC. However, looks like a very valid trick for UA where bags are delivered to the walkway one by one most of the time. ^

Me either. But I guess that's why his bag always comes out on the first cart.
