I was just on Fin 748 - there is a divider between PE and Y, but no curtain. I thought there were only 5 HD planes in the fleet?

We've had this discussion a few times.

1. The wiki above provides the Fin #s of all the 77s including the 7 HDs. In the wiki, you can see that 748 and 749 are the new builds. Thus as rehoult noted, there are now 7 of them.

2. Back on September 22, I posted the following upthread:

Yes, 777-333ER or more fondly known as the HD.
Delivered April 26.

New plane smell.

The new lavs are similar to the 788/9s with no-touch faucets and the different color finish on the sink counters and floors.

The galley has new food carts and they seem to be made of slightly different materials and don't make as much noise. Nice finish too.

For some reason, the main cabin looks a little nicer than the refurb, but I can't explain why.

Stuff is still relatively clean-ish and in good shape. There is quite a bit of dirt along the window ledges and the lavs have dirt on the floor and this was before the flight departed.

Still, nice to be on new metal.
Recently while on fins 743 and 744, looking at the PE and Y cabins, I commented to crew that the divider is what sets apart the new builds for the old fins (along with the nicer lavs and seats of course).

Easy solution, make the accountants fly on the product. Every accountant I know while being careful with numbers hates dirty / messy things even more!

What if those accountants get bonuses for saving the cleaning costs?

Well, like I said, all the accountants I know hate dirty / messy things more than saving a bit of money.

Perhaps it's not accountants per se, only accountants who moved out of it and into upper management?

And who take themselves seriously enough to believe in accounting fiction/creative writing. Instead of looking at the big picture?

(So they end up buying 737s. 319s with non-containerized luggage....)

So, you only know germophobic accountants? Because I know a lot of accountants and the cheapskates far outnumber the germophobes.

Although the cheapskate reputation is largely (but not entirely) undeserved. AC's job is to make money. The accountants are just trying to do their job.

If no one exercises strategic thinking to see the longer-term benefits of cleaning planes despite slightly higher short-term costs, that's not the problem of the accountants, it's the people overseeing them.

HEY!!!! This is the AC FT forum, there is no place for rational and factual comments here - no matter how much those same comments may reflect actual business reality and how accurate they may be!

Sorry. Damned bean-counters! Anyone with a CPA working at AC HQ should be forced to only use bathrooms on planes that have just returned from TATLs and TPACs and they should be forced to eat all their food directly off airplane tray tables!!!!!

Only then will those penny-pinchers understand the DISGUSTING conditions they're forcing us to live in!!!

That better?
