Movable armrest on 18 D-G on 777-300ER?

Hi all,

My wife is going to fly with the 2 yrs old on AC88. Originally I booked them in premium economy but the PE seats cannot have the armrest between the seats raised. Does anyone remember if the first row (18) in the middle can have the armrest raised? I remember the tray table is in the armrest so I am not sure about it either.

Thanks!

No. the armrest can not be raised on any row that have the tray tables built into them.

Bulkhead rows are all Trump-safe. No need to worry.

FYI there is a thread for this question.

I just searched through about 20 different pages of posts, looking for mention of the armrests in row 18. Only one post said they were not, others referred to the old cabin seating and one mentioned row 30.

So I looked at the AC Fleet pages.

Interestingly, on the 788 and 789 page, this info (image 1) appears at the bottom, but of the 777-200LR (image 2) and for the 777-300ER (image 3), the info is different.

That info just relates to the armrest bordering the aisle. You were asking about the arm-rest between seats. If it's a bulkhead row then the video screens and tables fold into the arm-rest, and it's not movable.

I know. Thanks

kareshi was asking and I was curious, so I went looking.

Also, I went searching through my collection of cabin photos. While this was on the 789, all the 777s now have the same seats.

If you look at 19, you can see the armrests are raised.

Bulkhead rows have immovable armrests. My wife hates them when flying with our toddler. Whether we have a spare seat or not.

Breakdown of std vs HD 777 layouts?

AC list their aircraft and fin numbers on their website but can't find any mention of how many 777-300s have the std 38? J layout vs the HD 20J layout.

Any idea what the breakdown is? And are the HD routes known?

The routes are known - YVR-HKG, YVR-LHR, YUL-CDG and YUL-LHR off the top of my head. You can always check by doing a dummy booking in J and see whether they show the second J cabin.

I believe there are 7 HD in the fleet. The other 12 are "almost HD".

Note it is 40 J vs. 28 J

Additional info:

1. In the wiki at the top of the thread, there is a list of destinations per aircraft. As per The Lev's comment, a route like YVR-HKG will use the 777-300 with 450 pax and 28 J configuration.

2. One of my recent AC 8 flights for HKG-YVR was on the 777-200LR as the inbound 777-300 was continuing on to SIN for maintenance and the -200 had just come form maintenance in SIN.

My point: if aircraft are swapped out for maintenance or other reasons, that may also affect the cabin configuration for the route

3. So The Lev's suggestion to check the aircraft showing for the flight and date you are looking at, is the best place to start.

But you should also check back frequently as even after booking, there can be equipment swaps, which may or may not affect your seat selection.

Was in 2A on a 77W (28J version) recently and noticed something odd about the tray table. It didn't seem to fully retract to tuck in neatly under the IFE. Has anyone else noticed this? Just a defective seat?

Thx. Mainly fly cdg and lhr so makes sense now why it felt like the majority of 777s were HD. I know yvr yyz often uses it as well.

Thx!

It is like that for all seats - a crappy design.

No, I know it's not supposed to retract all the way. But this table seemed to be protruding more than usual. Maybe I was going insane.
