Cabin Layout
Interior Specs can be found here https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html
- Window seats may feel narrower to come as the armrests are placed "into" the "curvature" of the cabin.
- Seats with no windows feel even more narrower as there is no space created by the curvature of window.
- All bulkhead seats have very limited legroom.
- Seats 15A, 16A, 16F, 17A and 17F have limited windows.
- Exit rows 19 and 20 have more legroom than regular preferred seats.
Routes
The 737 MAX is designated to replace the A320-series. Based on announcements and schedule updates, the following specific routes will be operated by the 737 MAX in future:
YYZ-LAX (periodic flights)
YYZ-SNN (new route)
YUL-DUB (new route)
YYZ/YUL-KEF (replacing Rouge A319)
YYT-LHR (replacing Mainline A319)
YHZ-LHR (replacing Mainline B767)
Hawaii Routes YVR/YYC (replacing Rouge B767)
Many domestic trunk routes (YYZ, YVR, YUL, YYC) now operated by 7M8, replacing A320 family

Agreed. But when has should be ever been more than a hope? With the current focus, unfortunately, I think this is an unrealistic expectation of AC. A 17.3" and 30" or 31" pitch given the Rouge trend would make most sense.

If you are ok/accept the current changes (when you really don't like them) and given this forum is for (brutal) honest feedback, one shouldn't settle for less in airing their contructive opinions.
Given that AC (and others) monitor this forum, if you want to show complacency, I bet the next round of enhancements will sound like this: ''Based on on our elite/altitude focus group (FT) we have taken their feedback (complacency) and made changes.....''
Or you can hold your peace and practice your sardine can position(s)
And yes I do think its realistic for AC to maintain basic comfort for its Altitude members.

As Southwest has managed to make their 737-MAX seats 17.8" I'm quite sure AC will follow. While it is not a perfect option it is nearly the same width as the 320. At least they are trying to improve the plane. Now if they could get a second forward boarding door for the 739M a la 321...

Model of 737-8Max on display at Pearson T1
I came across the model on display in T1. It's located in between the CIBC branch and the customer service area with the stairs leading up to the walk-way for the E gates. Not exactly the most conspicuous area.

Looks nice. After flying the 737-800 on UA last week followed up by the 321 on AC, both in the front cabin, I definitely noticed the reduced space on UA. Nice enough seats on UA, but I have a relatively lean frame.
The biggest difference was reduced separation between the PAX.

I'm not looking forward to the 737 joining the AC fleet, but it's not like I have much say in the matter - so I'll have to adjust when the time comes.
