Hi,
I need some help...I am trying to figure out a plan for a trip leaving after December 28 and returning mid-February. I am trying to navigate the forums to figure out how to avoid scamcharges and get the best bang for my miles. A few questions...
How do you search using segments?
How do I book this mini RTW trips?
I gladly welcome any advice.
Thanks,

Hello I want to book business or first class mini RTW trip from Vancouver in may or June

I would like to stop at ICN(2 weeks) and BKK or HKT( 5days) then to CDG or LHR (2-3weeks). I would like to minimize numbers of flights and I am quite flexible in terms of dates and orders of destinations.

I would really appreciate someone can help me with possible itineraries in May . I thank you for all your help in advance.

Look forward to hearing your advice.

Do you even have any idea where you would like to go?

I want to go to Thailand and from there I am open. I have eight weeks available starting December 28, 2013.
Indonesia and Vietnam would be great additions to the journey.

And where would you leave from? Do you have enough miles for economy or business class (or even first)?

Just like I suggested another poster, flisea.com is a very nice tool to use as it gives you information about YQ (scam charges), so you can pick your flights to avoid them. Just search from your home airport to your destination and see what comes up.

As for booking, if you do something fairly simple, like going from point A to B, then going from B to C and later C to A, you can most likely do it through Aeroplan's web site and save the $30+tax fee they charge if you call, but if you have 2 stopovers in addition to your destination, then you'll have to call for sure.

I am flying UA-LX-CA-SQ-OZ-UA in J, with one UA segment in Y. Other than UA, all other airlines permit 2 carry-ons for J. Would I have any luck going with 2?

Could someone please tell me if this itinerary meets the maximum MPM guideline.

YYC-SFO-NRT(stop)-ICN(stop)-HKG-SIN-IST-AMS(stop)-ZRH-YUL-YYC (22,543 mi)

YYC-SIN
MPM5 Atlantic: 14487
MPM5 Pacific: 10416

You're looking good both ways - but that's assuming SIN is considered your point of turnaround (I assume it is because it's the farthest point from YYC.)

If they consider ICN your POT - then you're way over MPM on the return, as through the Pacific, MPM5 is 6948, through the Atlantic, 13646.

Invalid surely - three stops (if SIN is the POT, that is your destination).

It's valid. SIN isn't POT, it's a connection <24hrs

If ICN is the POT, then how is it valid?

ICN-HKG-SIN-IST-AMS-ZRH-YUL-YYC completely blows the MPM out of the water - it's more than 10% over MPM5.

Just make SIN as POT. Sometimes you can be over MPM however if routing is valid from a *A carrier, you should be good.
