Shooting the messenger is the only way to get the message back to the sender. This is insane. Fairmont is a shell of what it once was

Fairmont Georgetown DC
I have been told that suite upgrade vouchers can be used for my stay but when I actually asked them to apply one to my upcoming stay, there was no response.
I asked on checkin if my room was upgraded, I was told that my room had been upgraded to a premium room (corner room, non suite) without a voucher, so keep these vouchers for other stays... |
to whom did you ask?

If they had responded to you, they would have told you that it was not possible. As has been complained about in this thread repeatedly, the stupid system that Accor has designed, makes it so that you cannot apply a Suite Night Upgrade to an existing booking. You must make a new booking, and apply that upgrade at the time of making that booking.
"You can use your suite upgrade. The reservation does not have to be paid in advance, it can simply be reserved with a credit card." So I emailed them to apply one voucher to the booking, I did not receive any response. They did not even say it's not possible, but I suspected that they would not upgrade me to a suite as the two vouchers were still in my account. Then I was told what I wrote in the earlier post. Maybe they just didn't want to give their suites to accor members. Actually, when I was staying in the property, I heard a couple guests complaining that Fairmont is now owned by Accor and everything is going downhill. |

I was only re-qualified for Platinum at the beginning of December, two vouchers were suddenly credited to my account. Since I wanted to apply it to my existing booking, I emailed the hotel and got a response saying
"You can use your suite upgrade. The reservation does not have to be paid in advance, it can simply be reserved with a credit card." It sounds like the person replying to your question either (a) just didn't understand your question and thought you were asking about making a new booking and using an upgrade, or (b) just didn't understand the terms of the upgrade certificate, and really thought you could apply an upgrade to an existing reservation.

Phantom vouchers
I saw 2 new upgrade certs show up after Jan 1, with a 2021 expiry. This was on top of the ones I received in 2019. They have since disappeared, so maybe it was just an IT glitch?
I did earn Plat for 2020. Was it ever established that the certs given in 2019 were retroactive (ie for earning 2019 status) or only given after earning 2020 status? |

With the launch of ALL this year, all Platinum members without exception were granted some Suite Night Upgrades regardless of their annual activity, in recognition of their current status.

I’m not bothered if this answer is no, it’s just a question of whether we need to chase down the extra 2. |

Right - but did requalifying in 2019 entitle you to an additional 2 certs, on top of the “gifted” certs?

Only have two "in stock" :( - will be using them on one booking of two days. Then another booking of two days without them. I will gambe that I will not be moved. Will let you know, but this will be in October 2020 ...... |
