Does anyone know if the pool renovations are over and if so, is it open?

And the hot tub was almost the first I've visited with hot enough water and vigorous enough massage jets.
One thing that confused me: I'm never sure what the protocol is for clothing in the sauna, so I am pretty careful to read all of the instructions. At this property, there are separate-sex saunas, adjacent to one another, behind the whirlpool, which is elevated and next to the swimming pool. Each sauna has a dressing area in front of it, with hanging hooks. The individual saunas have glass doors, and a part of the instructions says something like, "Cover yourself loosely with a towel." If that means without clothing under it, I couldn't figure out how to get undressed without being in full view of all swimmers or hot tubbers. If it meant on top of a bathing suit, why not mention swimwear?

Just checked out of the Le Centre Sheraton after a four night stay. Here's a quick update.

- Im a Plat who has been coming here yearly for 10 years.

- actually got a good $120/nt rate and decided to pay instead of use the whopping 12k points on it. However, I did use 2 FWNs just earned.

- renovations are pretty-much complete. Pool and hot tub is open and the workout room is MUCH bigger and quite impressive.

- they used to have a nice 6th floor outdoor patio here that got smaller due to the expansion of the workout room. From asking hotel staff, they say they are planning to reopen it at some point. This is not a huge feature of the hotel but it was nice to have if you wanted to sip a brew in the evening.

- Tried to check-in at 1PM... I had two rooms which were both upgraded to suites. Neither were ready but no issues, we grabbed a bite and did a little shopping.

Came back at 3 and one was ready and the other was still not ready. The front desk person was kind enough to give us a round of drinks (which is worth about $40) and told us he'd come get us when the other room was ready. So, we sat at the bar, sucked down a few beers and 40 min later, the room was ready.

- one of the suites was the standard with the queen bed and the other was very nice with a big living room, dining room table, two full baths, and a little kitchen area. Let me tell you... This room made the stay. We were able to go out all day, have dinner, walk around town, and come back hang with our friends late into the night. Tons of room.

- club Louge was just renovated and provides good breakfast and evening munchies. Alcohol is expensive up there.

- Had great service from day 1. No complaints. Would come back in a minute at that rate however this hotel went from 7k to 10k to 12k points (by changing categories) in a matter of a few years. It's a great hotel but (IMO) 12k points is a bit too much for this place. To me, it's a 10k place... However, I'd take the rate I got pretty quickly.

- I nearly went to the Westin this year but we got too good of a rate to jump ship.

Side notes... Yeh! Yogurt on St Cathering is awesome. This little hole in the wall Pizza Dany 2 streets down serves good pie (Metcalf st I think). We actually often do lunch at one of the many underground food courts. They're not your typical American mall food courts... The food is very good and lots to choose from. For dinner.... We explore different parts of the city and play it by ear.

Overall... Great stay.

I wouldn't quite say the workroom is very impressive at all (I hadn't seen it pre-renovation granted). Decent number of cardio machines but really lacking on the other stuff.

Generally, definitely one of the nicer North American Sheraton's I've stayed at. Will check out the Westin as well for comparison!

Here's an update based on my stay here over the past 4 days.

I'm a Plat who has visited this property yearly for several years. I reserved two rooms for 4 nights. Here's some notes...

- CHECK IN... Excellent. Both my rooms were upgraded to two room suites. One was a Junior Suite and the other was an accessible Junior Suite. The Accessible suite was very good sized... Two full normal hotel rooms. The normal Jr Suite is only a queen bed but it has two bathrooms. Regardless, I was happy with both upgrades.

- HOTEL... The hotel was very busy. If you've never been here, this hotel is a hustling, bustling place that's 37 floors tall. The lobby is a constant buzz, people are in and out at all hours. I actually like the action, and there was no shortage of action this weekend as the place was jammed.

- ROOMS... The two Jr Suites were good. I liked the accessible one better as it was quite large. The only thing I did not like about the accessible was the water pressure. Unlike the regular Jr Suite, it had a king bed and only one bathroom. Last year I was put in a huge hospitality suite. They were unavailable this year.

- CLUB LOUNGE... Ate breakfast up there every morning. Very good assortment of cereals, fruits, breads, bagels, cheeses, oatmeal, pastries, and some meats. This is my style so I liked it. This lounge is very big... Lots of people come through. Evening food was the typical fare.

At one point one of the attendants came up to me and recognized me by name and asked me where "xxx" (my hometown) is. I found this interesting as he must have had a list and sought me out. Nice touch.

- POOL... I used the pool, hot tub, and sauna. Pool is on the small size but fine. Hot tub is HOT (from an American point of view) but therapeutic. saunas are small but fine.

- LOCATION... This is why I come back. It's pretty close to the epicenter of Montreal. While the W and Westin are a little off the beaten path. However, pretty much everything is walkable from all three.

- PARKING... Self park in the garage below the hotel for $20.88 CDN per day.

- MISC... I was going to try the Westin this year. I've toured it and liked it. It's not as busy as the Sheraton and a little more up-scale. However, the rate at the Westin was $50/nt more. I've always had great recognition (and upgrades) at the Sheraton so I stuck with it.

- ISSUES... I had a hell of a time with my bill due to the crazy reservation I had. One room was all points. The other was three reservations strung together that messed up the system. A long story but it got resolved without any issues.

Overall, another very good stay. The hotel was very busy this year with several conventions and the swimming world championships, along with a huge heavy metal festival. Lots of different people roaming around. Great people watching.

Next time I'm up there, I will try the Westin if the price is similar. Not that I'm displeased with the Sheraton but I'd like to get a different view of the City. Montreal is a great city. Lots of neighborhoods to explore, great food, lots of history, awesome shopping, and I actually hit the casino a lot.

I have been staying here since January - mostly 4 nights per week.

I like the rooms, and the staff are great.

Lounge is good, breakfast is typical but good, evening is very light, so I dont go up much.

My biggest issue is the internet here has started to suck - since July i have not been able to log into my VPN for work. I talked to the helpdesk many times...no avail
When I complained to the hotel, I got a nice chunk of points...still would prefer better internet!

Just noticed that the lounge is closed until Jan 20. Shame since I'll be there in the meantime.

You should be able to get free breakfast coupons and some drink coupons for the main bar. They did that for me the week of Dec 16 when I was there.

When I've experienced this at the Montreal Sheraton we got full breakfast in the restaurant and drink tickets for the lobby bar (they were quite generous with the selection)

Another amazing stay.

Check-in: Hotel was full, but this hotel respects the Plat/GOld check-in line and I was helped very quickly - less than 5 min - even though the regular line was somewhat long. Took points as my amenity. Offered late check-out, and took it. It's nice that I didn't have to request or fight for it like at many other hotels.

I was upgraded from my basic room to a Club King on the 35th floor, with a nice view of a Cathedral and out to the San-Laurent. In room, had a letter from a member of management and given a few drink coupons for the hotel bar.

Club was appointed as always. Heavy continental breakfast. Wasn't up there in the evenings. Slight nit, only coffee/tea/water available between breakfast and evening apps.

Used MGC, points credited promptly.

Pool was nice and quite large. Had room to swim laps even with many families with kids in the pool. Enjoyed hot tub as well.

Check-out was smooth. No lines since we checked-out at 3:30pm.

Overall another great stay.

I stayed here recently.

• Excellent Platinum recognition with upgrade to a suite even though hotel was full
• Beautiful view from the club lounge
• Nice hot tub
• Great location;can walk everywhere
• Rip off policy of charging $3/bag to keep baggage at the concierge. Each shopping bag counted separately.

Excellent Upgrade

Just checked in for a one night stay here. Politely inquired about possible upgrades and my best-ever upgrade to one of the Executive Suites here.

Almost 1,500 square feet of space, separate lock-off with a King bed. Incredible view south over the city and river.

The public areas and fitness areas are nice, but the pool and hot tub can get a little busy.

Had 2 stays the last 3 months at this property. No more breakfast or drink coupons for platinum members. :|

The first stay was in the middle of a corporate convention, so the hotel was busy, but was assigned to a club floor room. Was upgraded on my second, 1-night stay, to the executive suite. As others had pointed out, the suite was essentially a Presidential suite, with a full dining table and sofa.

The club was certainly impressive, with its own cash bar in the evenings. The breakfast selection was decent, with your standard pastries, cereal, and scrambled eggs or omelet, depending on the day. Evening appetizers were cheese and fruit plates, which were nothing to write home about. The view was wonderful however.

Room service was prompt, and food was pretty good. I tried the mushroom risotto, and it was delicious.

Self parking is probably the way to go here - the garage was easily accessible, other than the 1 day when the elevator to the garage was out of service. Save yourself a few bucks (or loonies?) and skip valet parking. There are always a couple of taxis waiting, and the hotel is close to two major metro lines.

The gym has a large number of different equipment. The pool, however, was out of service when I stayed here. Probably for winter maintenance.
