Glad to hear that, I've got a stay at the end of the month. Has the gym re-opened yet?

gym is open 24 hr a day. pool is open from 6 am - 10 pm. gym area is nice and spacious

the breakfast coupon is good for American breakfast plus tea/coffee/juice. you don't have to sign anything. once you are done with your plate you are good to go

i was not given coupon for evening snacks and i did not ask at check-in

Looking forward to seeing the new lounge. I hope they improve the evening hor d'oeuvres. I've gotten tired of the same selection of cheese, coldcuts, veggie tray and the one hot plate.

Just completed a 6 night stay here. Great location - 1 block from St. Catherine and close to Rue Crescent. It definitely has the big hotel feel - not much recognition from the staff (compared to the W who remember me by name on my 2nd night there).

Rooms are nice and the views are even better - I had a room on the 32nd floor before changing to the 30th floor due to unexplainable noise in the unoccupied room next to me. I think the previous guest purposely turned on the (really loud) radio alarm around 1 am to annoy the guests (not the hotel's fault), but also, there were some other "moving noise" (could be pipes etc...who knows) and there were housekeeping items (e.g. cleaning cloth and vacuum cleaner) left in the room when I called about the noise at 1:30 am (I peeked into the room when security open the door after a few unanswered knocks). I spoke to the security personnel and was told that it's normal to have housekeeping items in the rooms because housekeepers sometimes leave their housecleaning items in the room after their shift is over and they start from the same room the next day ? (and my room did have a housekeeping drying cloth when I checked in - no biggie, but just saying!)

The pools were under construction when I was there and we were given vouchers for the YMCA down the street. Gym is fully equipped and has a really nice view of the Bell Centre.

Also, you may want to check your bills when you check-out. There was an error every single night and there is a front desk staff who isn't that pleasant to deal with. I've posted it on the category changes for 2012 - I don't know if they are getting upgraded back to category 4, but on my last night, my rate was $60 instead of $45. The front desk staff told me it has always been $60 (which is true prior to March 1, 2012) and my $60 bill was right. They told me that as a courtesy, they will honor the $45 rate (that's after arguing with me saying that the $45 rate is an error!)!! Seems like they have zeroed out cash and points for now too!

I had a one night stay there in February arrived late and therefor could only enjoy the lounge in the morning for breakfast.

Arrival Date: February 16th, 2012
Departure Date: February 17th, 2012
Room type booked: Traditional King Bed (got upgrade to Club Floor)
Rate Plan: January Sale Rate
Room Number: 3511
Room Rate: 119 CAD (excl. taxes)

Status of Guest Program: Platinum

I arrived late at the hotel around 23:00 and there was no line at the check in desks. The only agent on duty at this late hour checked me in and I had only to show an ID and to provide a credit card. I was given information about opening hours of the lounge but had to ask about location and opening hours for gym and pool. I was asked if I needed a late and check out and check out at 16:00 was confirmed right away without any problem. I was addressed several times by name during the procedure and the agent looked at me while talking to me. I was offered 500 points as SPG Platinum welcome gift, there were no other options available.

The layout of my room on the 35 floor was this of an average hotel room. After stepping into the room, one was in the small hallway with the entrance to the bathroom next to the entrance door. The door to the bathroom had a glass panel made of frosted glass. The bathroom was of average size with sink on the left side along with a lot of space to store personal items. A hairdryer was in a bag placed on a rack with the usual bathroom amenities.

On the opposite side was the bath with a shower head with massage, rainforest, normal and a water saving function. The water pressure was low, I would have prefered a higher (or better) water pressure. The lighting in the bathroom was also a bit dark for my taste, especially as the bathroom was using a brown colour scheme. Showerhead and shower curtain were in good shape.
Towels were provided for two persons and a bathrobe was placed in the closet in the hallway. Also located in the closet in the hallway were the safe and the iron with ironing board.

My room had on the left side a double bed with a Sweet Sleeper mattress and four large pillows in addition to two smaller ones. Two bedside tables with lamps on it were placed at each side of the comfortable bed. One of them had an iPod docking station and a cordless phone was placed on the other bedside table.
On the left side of the large window was an armchair with a small table and a lamp. On the right side of the room were the desk with the second cordless phone and a lamp along with the LAN connection cable and a sideboard. There is no minibar in the room but tea and coffee making facilities were located in a drawer in the desk while the large LG flatscreen TV was placed on the sideboard
In-room wifi is available for a fee, but free for guests staying on the club floor or holding status in frequent guest program of Strawood.

It was possible to plug in several devices into the TV screen using a media hub at the desk..

The colour scheme is generally a light brown /beige colour with touches of dark brown. This makes the room cozy but also a bit dark. In general is was a nice design and matches the design of the public areas of the hotels as well as the club lounge.

The room was in good shape and does not show much stains and scratches at furniture, walls and carpets.

The staff I had contact with was helpful and friendly. All information provided was correct.

Check out was busy at 16:00 but the line moved quickly and soon it was my turn. I was asked if everything was okay. I was addressed by name during check out. The folio was first shown before tucked away in an envelope.

Description about the public areas and pictures are as usually on my homepage (http://www.hotels-and-travel.de/hote...l_yul_snlc.htm). Certainly a nice hotel and the location is very convenient.

Since the lounge was busy, I was not able to take a lot of pictures, but the lounge is huge compared with other properties and could be divided by curtains. It is one of the few lounges, where it is not such a big problem to find a table in the morning for breakfast.

Hi,

I've stayed here every year for the past 10 years. Like the hotel, love the location. However, for the past 5ish years, there been construction. Can someone who's been there recently give an update on the following.

1. Is Club Lounge open?
2. Is pool and hot tub open?
3. Is the 6th Floor Outdoor Deck open?

Really wanted to try the Westin this year but with the Cat changes this year, I really don't think the Sheraton or Westin are worth it at 12k and 16k points per night each. I can see 10k and 12k... May be my last year there but would like an update.

Called Platinum Concierge to check status of the construction. They said there were no notes on file, so they called the property while I waited.

Property reports that the construction is finished and pool and all facilities are open.

All renovations are complete and everything is open. That being said, I don't believe that much has been improved (except for the gym)

We have moved our stays to the Westin and are very happy there:
The rooms are nicer
The lounge has 24h drinks
Breakfast is in the restaurant with a very nice buffet spread
Very friendly staff

The only downside is that it is further south east than the Sheraton thus further from some downtown areas

We prefer it to the Sheraton and the W (one block away)

Thanks for the info. I will report back.

I've been @ the Sheraton for the last 10 years and love the location. I was going to pull-the-trigger on the Westin this year but got a real good $115/nt rate at the Sheraton vs. $180/nt at the Westin.

Normally, I would dump free night and points but the current promo is so bad, I will only get 2 and they will post when I am in Montreal. And the 12k and 16k points respectively is a lot steep now. Rather save points for sitting on the Gulf of Mexico.

This could be my last year there. Love it but its debatable if its worth the points.

You can get an even better rate. spg.com is curently offering $109.

Paid stays at Le Centre Sheraton also earn 1,000 SPG renovation bonus points!

Renovations are complete. Rates are better than the Westin (& the Meridien, by the way.) Lounge is great. I would rather stay on a revenue rate and save my SPG points for stays in NYC!

I think this property has issues with billing.

I stayed here for 2 nights last week on a prepaid rate. On the day of check-in, my Amex was charged twice for the same CAD amount (slightly different amounts after currency exchange). At checkout, the bill reflected a negative charge after applying the "double deposit" amount.. front desk said it would be credited back to my Amex within 48 hrs. Ok, fair enough.

It's been 3 business days after my checkout (5 calendar days) and no sign of the credit.
I received another folio after I checked out that no longer shows the negative charge.
Folio says to email [email protected] with any questions.. when I emailed that address, I got this:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

[email protected]
The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

The following organization rejected your message: stcexcpsm01.corp.star.

Tried calling the Billing office at the hotel.. keep getting voicemail after 4 rings, no matter what time I call (morning or evening during business hours). Does anyone work there?

Unfortunately, I will have to dispute the duplicate amount on my cc. Totally bogus but I'm not going to be on the hook for something that really should have never happened in the first place.

My apologies for the inconvenience, but I would skip trying to fix this directly with the property and contact Corporate Customer Service. 800-328-6242.

Thanks for the suggestion.
CCS did fix this one - amazing how the hotel Billing office responds so quickly after being contacted by Corporate.
