Sabre rattlings - hot off the wire prices
So yesterday I signed up as a (very part time) home-based TA and got access to both Sabre and Amadeus, so thought I'd try out my Sabre keyboarding skills (there's an oxymoron) to see what changes in the star file fares I could find since the last general updating. I've done just a selection of countries for OWE prices, since cutting and pasting into FT format rates a 12 on the PITA scale.
Anyway, below are a few Asia origin points, priced as of today. I've included the last FT-posted fares on the line below so you can see the changes. On my spreadsheet it looks like most AONExs have gone up by 10%; DONExs by 4% - 10%, and LONExs have stayed more or less flat. Japan didn't go up by as much as other places, including Sri Lanka, so for the moment Japan is pretty competitive with CMB in some fare categories. (I haven't done the work of currency conversion except for a couple of personal tests.)
Did I mention that I'm now a fledgling TA? Wink wink.
(A couple of Africa and Euro start points will be in the next post. I'm also looking at GlobeEx and Circle fares to see if there's anything shocking.)
If anybody knows diddly about how to look up rules and fares for RTWs on Amadeus, especially ones BA might use in, say, Romania, I'd be grateful for the guidance.

Here are two Africa origins of interest -
And a couple of countries of interest in Europe -

Good stuff Gardyloo ... ^
Maybe this site would help: Global Distribution Systems Training Web Site.

Though BA might be on Amadeus, they sometimes restrict access to certain fare rules and displays to their own systems which regular TA Amadeus users do not have access to.

As an exceptionally tweedy lecturer at Edin U once asked us, "G'morning. How am I?"

Gardyloo, thanks very much for this update. I have entered these new figures into my fare spreadsheet and reach the following conclusions.
Maritius is still by far the best A starting point for AONEs. The 4 continent fare is only 73% of the next best AONE4 and the 5 continent fare is 77% of the next best (South Africa in both cases). Even if one assumes that starting in Mauritius (also South Africa) requires an extra continent (one has to pay for Africa but there is not much you can do with intra-Africa flights), comparing the ex-MRU 4 continent to the best AONE3 (which is now Japan), AONE4 ex-MRU is still about 72% of an AONE3 ex-Japan. MRU is also better for a DONE4 than anywhere else, although the DONE3 ex-CMB seems slightly ($50) cheaper than the DONE4 ex-MRU. Note that I have not included Malawi in the above comparisons because it is more expensive that MRU (but not South Africa) and does not seem to be a starting point that anyone is likely to consider.
Putting my money where my mouth is, today I’ve just returned to the US from flying the first four segments (more than 18,000 miles all in First) of a AONE5 started in MRU a week ago. (It would be nice if it could be extrapolated to 20 segments totaling 90,000 miles all in First but the law of averages is about to catch up). Before starting out, I posted some thoughts on RTWs ex-MRU and I’ll add some further thoughts in the next few days.

Presumably you flew MRU-(JNB)-LHR-xxxxx as I can't find a way to fly First Class from JNB to the east unless going as far as SYD. Are there any flights to Asia where one can travel A, not D?
Also, please, is there an updated Excel spreadsheet available anywhere? The latest is dated early July 06?
