Marriott Suites for me. But then I attend a lot of conventions and you can't beat it. Easy cab ride to anywhere on the strip. Longest trip probably would be to Mandalay Bay/4 seasons and it's under $10

taxis are the best bet for travelling around the city. even if they grab you for a little extra. you will realize after a day or two if they are taking the "long" route to get you to your destination. Hugo's cellar is an excellent restaurant, worth the taxi fare and a great culinary experience. Flower for the lady on entering, great food and deserts.

Can anyone suggest a good hotel for MR stay in LAS?

I've stayed at the Residence Inn Las Vegas Hughes Ctr several times and enjoyed it. It is not the typical RI. It is an actual hotel, with something like 11 floors a nice lobby, pool, basketball court, etc...

My reasons for staying there were different then most going to Vegas, so please read on.

1. They have 2 Bedroom Suites available, I was traveling with several non-family members.

2. I was attending a car race (with my race car on a trailer) that needed a large, fairly secure parking lot. This hotel has PLENTY of free parking for trailers.

3. I wanted free breakfast. All RI's have it.

A good choice for a hotel NOT near the strip, but near some good casinos and restaurants...

I second the vote for the RI Hughes Center. Though I disagree that its not close to the strip. Its less than 1/2 mile off the strip and it was nice to come back to a hotel and not have to find my way through a casino to get to my room. I thought it was an excellent value for my points. Will definitely go back.

I have stayed at this hotel and enjoyed it for many of the reasons mentioned above. I used points and was able to get the entertainment rate for several of the nights. If you have an entertainment book you can get 50% off the room rate if it's available. Lately that has not been the case but when it was I got the room for 59.50/night. At that rate I'd save the points for something else.

Anyone try that new JW Marriott on the outskirts of Vegas? Think it used to be called the Regent before Marriott took it over.

I agree with all of the RI Hughes Center posts but want to add that the Marriott Suites on Conv Ctr Drive is awesome too. They too have handled trailers quite well as I've seen them there numerous times. The staff at the Suites are some of the best I've ever seen at a Marriott property. It is about 1/4 mile from the northern end of the strip.

I just returned from the Residence Inn Hughes Ctr. and want to report back that it was perfect for our needs. Clean, nice decor, excellent staff. The walk to the strip was easy. I got the qualifying stay towards gold status.

BTW, I called the day before we left and asked for the Entertainment Rate again. It was available and decreased my rate from $116 to $84. That was a nice savings.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend.
I recommend the Venetian. Biggest room on the strip. Huge gaming floor

Since this is a Marriott site, I'm assuming you want info on Marriott's in Las Vegas.
We spend approximately 50 nights a year in the Marriott Suites on Convention Center Drive. It's one block off the strip and close to everything. The staff is our extended family. Approximate cost $129.00 per nite. Ask for a room with French doors dividing the bedroom from the living area. There is a Residence Inn and a Courtyard next door (approx same price for the Residence Inn). We've stayed there, but like the Marriott Suites the best. Further south (approx 1/2 mile)is another Residence Inn (Hughes), but we've never stayed there. It's also one block off the strip.
The latest property to become a Marriott was purchased by Canadians in Jan. 2002(JW Marriott). It's way out west (about 8 miles) and away from everything, but it's really nice. Unless you're home sick for more Canadians I'd stay at the Marriott Suites, on Convention Center Drive.
If you don't care if it's a Marriott, there are plenty of other hotels to choose from.

Have also stayed at Marriott Suites. You will need a car if staying here, although we were able to walk to some locations such as the Hilton (Star Trek Experience).
