Like everyone else, I've had my issues with Hyatt IT, but I actually think their incompetence is probably a net benefit for those with the time and interest to deal monitoring their account and pestering Hyatt when necessary. Mistakes in their favor eventually get corrected, while mistakes in my favor usually don't. I although I did once have the Park Hyatt Vendome charge me (correctly) $600 6 weeks after I'd checked out when they somehow had undercharged me on check out.

I get it is horrible for Hyatt financially, but is the T&C is specifically states you can use a TSU/DSU with an all points reservation. Let the games begin!
I kept calling and finally got a representative who knew that you could apply a TSU to an all-points reservation per the T&C. PH Chicago apparently was not aware of this program change. She scheduled a phone appointment with the GM and said I should expect a confirmation email by the end of the day. ^

I love earning TSUs compared to SPG's SNAs, especially with the new ability to apply to full points bookings, but I'm getting frustrated with the pathetic IT.

I've now applied 2 TSUs this year and both times have required multiple calls because the TSUs aren't debited from my account, and I never receive the confirmation email that the agent always says I should receive in "an hour". It shouldn't be this difficult when there is availability.

Mirrors my experience exactly.

The other thing I just don't understand with the new system is why the confirmation emails don't show the suite upgrade. I'm repeatedly told by Hyatt agents that 'You won't see it in your confirmation email, but we can see it here' when I've applied a TSU. Yeah, I wanna rely on Hyatt's IT.

For one of my reservations, where I booked directly with Hyatt and applied a TSU, it did show the suite upgrade in room category. For another reservation I had and applied a TSU, it didn't show the suite in the room category.

When I called and asked about this they said it was because on the 2nd reservation, I had booked thru a convention event and they said it was because my rate from the negotiated event was locked, or something like that. But they assured me my TSU had been applied. I guess we'll see when I check in....

From the various reports it would seem that the inability to reflect the TSU upgrade on an email confirmation and in the member's account page is an IT problem.

It was reflected in one all-revenue reservation, but not in one that combined P&C with revenue nights.

If you're worried about it, as I was, you can request a note in the remarks section be added regarding the TSU upgrade. I like to have some documentation, even if minimal, especially when going someplace that we have not stayed previously.

A few posts upthread seem to report success in applying their tier suite upgrade to advance rates (previously only standard rates were eligible).

Has there been a change of policy or it's again entirely inconsistent depending on which agent you are talking to?

As far as I know they have always been applicable for ALL eligible rates, which would include advance purchase rates.

After being told it was no problem (to use one TSU on 7 consecutive nights for over two consecutive bookings), they are now saying it takes two TSUs. One for the first three nights, the other for the second four nights. They claim it's new from WOH.

Is this true?

Are you referring to the current policy under World of Hyatt?

Under the old gold passport program, I am pretty sure you could only apply the diamond suite upgrades to standard rates bookings.

It was and still is on all eligible rates... advance, corporate, AAA, etc.

It should be no problem if both are eligible rates.... so no mixing with free nights. But there have been some weird reports like not being able to use one when a free night is on a consecutive night, so who knows what the enhancement might be.

Strange. I have definitely been told that I can't apply my diamond suite upgrade to a reservation booked on the club at the hyatt rate and even the member discount rate which I found ridiculous given that one is a paid membership and the other an obvious rate that one will book if you are a WoH member. Tried to challenge but was told the same thing multiple times and gave up.

Calls to Hyatt reservation from my location are routed to India. Are you guys speaking with agents in the US? Wondering if this is a training issue.

The only restriction was in using points - that needed to be booked from a standard rate. But the DSUs weren't restricted similarly.
