if EK does gain mores right into Canada I would guess that new routes to YYC and YVR would not be launched until next spring (2015).

Valid point, but when I see the number of Aussies here in Bali I am sure they can easy fill up a flight to / from DPS to Melbourne or Sidney. On my last EK trip to DPS via KUL around 30 pax of my flight transferred with me to DPS operated by MH. If this is calculated with three incoming flights from EK to KUL and taking into account that pax also transfer to Bali from EK via Singapore and via Jakarta I think the can fill up easy a flight to Bali daily.

I know this was a topic many times before...any news about this route?

Could it be DXB-DPS-MEL or Perth and return? A lot of Aussies travel to Bali, and no premium airline is serving Bali from Australia so far I know....

I would state that I prefer Business on Garuda to Business on EK

The seats are better and the food and service is better on Garuda.

EK only wins on In Flight Entertainment due to the sheer number of channels

Folks on a.net aren't buying 'EK to MIA in October'. They want to see MIA "grow" with QR before EK should start. They say EK will be at MIA in 2016.

I'm from Boston, and I must say. I truly believe EK will start MIA. And I'm buying an October 2014 launch.

Thought FZ would fly to Novosibirsk but they aren't.
Russia is definately a good market and FZ is curently not flying to these big Russian cities: Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...orts_in_Russia

What about SVO/VKO, EWR or SAW? EK flies to JFK, DME and IST but as they get crowded the other airports should be an option in the future.

Interesting conversation about possible EK routes (mostly rumours without any proven fact)
some fact about UAE-Australia bilateral agreement - 109 flights now, increased to 123 by March 2014 and further to 137 from March 2015

I have a feeling the A380 arrivals into LGW signals a plan to perhaps hop across the Atlantic with them as well.

Any thoughts on potential winning routes to the US via Gatwick?

I think that the arrival on the A380 into Gatwick is probably going to turn into the 3 daily flights to be in A380

I think that's a given.

I somehow think this is part of a longer term strategy to get the A380s across the Atlantic via LGW.... It's also an airport where EK have a dominating and unchallenged presence

That would be great if EK does that, we need more options to fly to the USA from LGW

I used to enjoy the EK-DL code share from LGW, but that ended a long time ago. One to watch, I suppose!

Aussies flying to Bali.

A lot are ex Perth and its only a 3.5 hr flight, so most do it on low costs like Air Asia or Jetstar to save $$.
Same with Darwin.

Brisbane is served with GA 737 and Jetstar and Virgin, Bne also does not have a curfew.

Mel and Syd are served by GA A330 as well as Jetstar and Virgin. Ex SYD GA does offer a Immigration Service on Board, but in a cabin of 36 seats I have never seen it full.

So to be honest I don't think the market is there for EK to do a AUS to DPS service on the way to somewhere else.
