For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

Note: All links are expired

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Either your friend isn't telling you everything or something else is wrong. They've never had 50k mile bonuses AFAIK and they cannot claw back miles you've earned with spending.

I'll say this though, for random strangers on here this is not a good idea due to the AF and lower bonus (30k instead of 35k). However, for people that travel mostly with a friend/SO/loved one this MIGHT be good. Basically the new cardmember gets 5k less miles and has to pay the AF, but the referrer gets 10k bonus miles which makes up for the 5k less the new cardmember gets and leaves an additional 5k to offset the new cardmember's AF ($89/5k miles = 1.78cpm). It's slightly cheaper than buying them outright.

What's the latest on the 35k link in Page 1?

For non churners...are there still many denials due to no US status? If yes, does today's 10k (or 5k) referrals for a 30k offer (screw the 10k extra for balance transfer) PLUS annual fee make it the best offer available?

Thoughts?

You read too many blogs.

35K link is still working would still be the better link due to first year AF waived and 10K on anniversary.

Posts offering referrals have been removed because of this rule:

FlyerTalk is not a marketplace and nothing is to be offered for sale or conditioned on an exchange of money or barter.
The moderators have created a separate thread to host referral offers:

Do we have confirmed reports that the link in post #1 STILL works?

Here is the latest update to it:

>>>>>>>>>>>Update 3/5/13- Many people are getting denials and when phoning reconsideration finding it is because they are not Preferred or higher US members. No credit pulls are done when rejection is for this reason.

I just want to make sure before more harm is done

One of my friends has a theory that Barclays will have to offer better US Air cards as the American-US Air merger nears completion. His rationale is that Barclays has been dumped as the successor card issuer, but it has already bought a boatload of US Air miles that it will need to dole out to entice new card holders to apply for cards.

What do you think about this theory? Do the banks buy the miles in bulk ahead of time, or do they buy them as needed?

The link in post #1 worked for me on June 20, but I initially got a denial letter due to too many recent apps. I called the phone # and the credit analyst said I had an app in March (but it was > 3 months ago), so he went ahead and got a credit report and approved me.

Others with no recent Barclays apps have sailed right through using this link.

I am sure Barclay's has a way to claw back their money after being dumped. Banks do not fork over a pile of money without security. I think it is very likely that US/AA will have to pay Barclay's to get out of the deal; especially if Citi demands exclusivity. In other words, I don't think there will be a fire sale.

Yes yes I know. I have kept an eye on this thread but not as detailed as before before I started replying to the comments by FTG in my blog

The wording on post #1 made me waver a bit. Looks like it works fine. Thanks.

I used the 35K link from the first page on Friday and got approved on Monday. No status or accounts with Barclays.

I wonder if the 10k miles per referral works on yourself, that is, you click on your own link to apply for a second card. What do you guys think?

The referral card has an annual fee that is not waived, and you can still get the 35k no 1st yr fee card. So, essentially you'd be paying $89 for a 10k mi referral bonus. Not a good trade. Just apply using the link in post #1.

I have to spend $750 in July, August, and September to get 15,000 extra miles.

Since I have other cards I get better point use out of, I was thinking of using Amazon Payments to reach the minimum spend in those 3 months. Is there any reason I should be worried about only putting AP spend on my card? Would that raise any red flags? Has anyone done this successfully in a 3 month period?
