hotel/flight info

I'm arriving at SJC at about 4:40, so I should be able to make it to dinner Friday night. I'm staying at the Holiday in Express in Marina, CA, which is about 15 minutes away from Cannery Row. I'm leaving out of SJC Sunday at about 6PM.

Thanks. I am looking to book two nights at the Monterey Marriott, and I'd be leaving from Cupertino if I end up going.

It'll be nice to see you as always, though on a different side of the country than usual!

my attempts to get out of my work trip to India have come up unsuccessful. therefore, i'm going to very unhappily miss this DO i am looking forward to hearing about the reports and attending in 2015. boxo - if you would be interested in making this a twice-annual event, i'd be happy to help you arrange a spring version.

Ahhh, we'll miss you. Your +1 is probably relieved.

Will definitely keep the idea of a spring DO in mind.

You can move me to the confirmed column. I'll be arriving very late Friday night (11:30 p.m.) but should be around all day Saturday and Sunday. Still deciding on hotel.

Also, I would be interested in Tor House.

ETA: In 2012, we had 17 in various states of attendance, and we now stand at 18 for this year. A new record!

As soon as I nail down the Saturday morning activity, I'll be able to set a firm breakfast time.

Cool

I've got a day of clinic in Salinas on the 23rd, so plan to stay the night of the 23rd in Monterey and join anyone who's there on Friday the 24th for activities and dinner that night - please add me to the dinner list. Unfortunately have to head home that night for a flight out of SFO on Saturday morning. Will probably stay at the Super 8 motel.

If anyone will be arriving before noon on Friday, I always enjoy having lunch at the buffet at Ambrosia Indian Bistro, but am open to other spots.

http://ambrosiaib.com/monetrey/. (Yes, the URL is spelled this way...)

ETA: Staying at Super 8. Nice little place with great owners if anyone else needs a hotel. 20% off though this link: http://wyndhamhotelgroup.com/?corporate_id=8000000066

Thanks, Charles. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else as well.

I see that you are planning to drive down to LAX for a Sunday night flight. Thought you might like to know that about 10% of the LA population seems to head up to Santa Barbara on weekends, resulting in traffic speeds of about 30-40 mph from Santa Barbara to near LAX anytime after about 1pm on Sundays. Depending on the time of your flight, you may want to stay in Santa Barbara Saturday night (great restaurant/bar scene) and head down to the LA area by noon. I usually just go to Venice Beach in LA and enjoy the craziness, the use surface streets to get to the airport if it's anywhere near rush hour.

You'll enjoy the drive down the coast.^
