FAQ
1. Are these cards churnable?
Yes, they are. BUT you’ll have to wait anywhere from 12 to 26 months before applying again. Approvals have happened at the 13 month mark and denials at 24.
There is no set 18 month rule, but always err on the side of caution when churning.
Also- it’s from DATE OF APPROVAL and not from date of cancellation.
2.What are the most current rules in applying for these cards?
#ONLY ONE APPLICATION in a day (make that 30 hours to be safe)
#No more than 2 apps in 65 (approximately) days.
Example:
Day 1 40K personal platinum
Day 2 or later 25-30K personal gold
65+ days later 40K business
While the day limits are a little flexible by a few days either way and YMMV, the rules themselves are not flexible.
3. How long does it take for the Admiral passes to arrive?
For the better part, it takes about 3 months. This is not a set number, and some have received theirs sooner. It's been deduced that the passes are handled by a 3rd party that mails them in batches. Please don’t call Citi for the passes, because you’ll mostly find a CSR who doesn't know better and will give you wrong information.
4. Can I apply for a business card if I don’t have a business?
Technically, you can. But you may be asked for a 4506-T form, or to provide proof of business or/and a copy of a bill with your business name on it. If you don't already have a credit history for the business name you plan to use (meaning this is your first rodeo) then it is recommended you use your name as the business name with no income and 0 as years in business.
5. How do I get the statement credit?
First, you have to make sure if the offer you signed up for gave you A $150 credit or UP TO A $150 statement credit. For the 1st, any AA coded purchase ($50 AA GC seems to be the simplest option here) will/should trigger it. For the 2nd, you’ll have to spend $150 to get the $150 credit.
For more information on what will work and what won’t, please see here (thanks sdsearch) and here (thanks dogbyte)
6. Does the $150 account credit (for AA purchases using the VISA or AMEX) count against the spending required to receive the initial mileage bonus?
No. It does not. (Put differently: any account credit you receive has no impact on your spending total for purposes of earning the "X thousand miles for $Y spent in the first Z months" bonus.)
7. Can I buy Visa gift cards to meet my minimum spend?
There’s a very good chance that it’ll be coded as a cash advance.
It’s recommended to call citi and have them set your Cash Advance limit to zero. (thanks KennyBSAT)
8. Do I get 10% back when redeeming miles for awards?
It depends. First, the rebate program (which began in April 2012) applies only to holders of these cards:
Also, the maximum rebate for any cardholder in a single calendar year is 10,000 miles. Having more than one qualifying Citi AA card will not allow you to receive a larger rebate; the restriction applies per AAdvantage account.
9. At what locations are my one day Club passes valid?
All valid locations are listed here.

I applied on 5/6/2013. I sent a secure message after receiving the card asking about the signup offer. This is the reply I got.
You will receive a statement credit of up to $150.00 on American Airlines purchases within 12 months of the account opening. The dollar amount of the American Airlines purchase(s) will be matched with a statement credit up to $150.00. Eligible American Airlines purchases are defined as the purchase of items billed by American Airlines as merchant of record. Products or services that do not qualify are car rentals, hotel reservations, American Airlines VacationSM packages, purchases of American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, duty free purchases, and AA CargoSM products and services.
You can earn 1 additional mile per dollar on American Airline purchases made using this card within 12 months.
You can earn 45,000 bonus miles after making $5000.00 in purchases using this card within 4 months of the date the account was established. This offer will expire on 9/6/2013.
Bonus miles are reported from the billing statement on which the purchase requirement is met.

Thanks for this! This is probably one of the most informative posts for those unwilling to read the thread. Plain and simple spelled out right here.

I applied last week. Got instant approval on the 50k offer for the Visa. Applied the next day for the 45k AmEx. Application status was pending. Called this morning and the application was denied for too many applications.
I received the Visa card on Friday and confirmed the signup bonus.

1) Read a couple pages back here, there is no rhyme or reason to how Admiral's Club passes get sent out, but the consensus is that it's done by a third-party fulfillment agency and processed in batches, usuall a couple full months after the app is approved.
2) On that last point, the implication is that you getting all feisty at a Citi person isn't going to help anything.
3) People calling up and going nuts about minutiae of an offer that expired literally YEARS ago are going to be the ones who end up blowing up the whole deal, if it hasn't happened already (reports coming in that Citi is shutting this thing down, see posts from a couple days ago).
AC passes are the least valuable part of the deal anyhow. Just be happy with the 50k in all honesty. Get an AMEX plat if you need club access.

Citi bank is a joke. I opened 2 AA accounts in early March with 2 Admiral passes confirmed for both personal and business. I haven`t received them and called at least 10 times. I was told different stories: wait, go to Admiral club and get them there, we don`t offer them anymore, etc. I spoke to a rude customer relations person at Business accounts Sheena at Maryland office, team 46, who said the are not giving me any passes. I felt like she works there not to solve issues but harm Citi`s reputation. After I meet the spending req, I am gone. No more Citi b/s.
If your travel is scheduled soon and you must have passes... MMS has a link to a lounge pass program that is very inexpensive (can't remember the name) or you can buy them on Ebay for about 20 bucks.

I have plenty of club accesses and fly in Business most of the time anyways. However, if I applied for the offer with 2 club passes to be received upon approval, I sure will need to get them. Other parts of your message doesn`t make any sense. I am happy with AmEx and Chase and this experience with Citi is definitely points out why I haven`t used a single Citi card I keep somewhere in a very long time before those AA cards. Day and night, I guess I got used to top notch AmEx and Chase customer service.

Contacted Citi about my $150 statement credit as well as the Admirals Club passes and received the following response. I thought the consensus was the in-flight purchases should have generated the credit?
The in-flight purchase does not qualify for the $150.00 statement credit. Eligible purchases are determined by the billing code submitted by American Airlines. Other products or services that do not qualify are car rentals, hotel reservations, American Airlines VacationSM packages, purchases of American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, duty free purchases, and AA CargoSM products and services.
Please allow 10-12 weeks after the account opening to receive the Admirals Club passes.

Just a data point: I signed up for the Business Visa with 50,000 after $3,000 spend in 4 months from post 2. The CSR from Florida, told me that was all there was and did not mention the companion pass or statement credit that was mentioned in post two. Time will tell I suppose.

For what it's worth, I have gotten club passes from AA (Citi), United (Chase), and US (Barclays). All of them have taken 2-3 months to be delivered except my 2 AA passes from Citi in Feb. from an app in Jan. But 4 passes of my wife's were delivered the same day, and she had applied in December. The Citi CSRs probably should have come right out and told you "I don't have a clue, we hire an outside company to take care of these." But they didn't. I'm so sorry that you are having to wait for something that cost you nothing, and gave you very substantial value in the meantime. I really am. But somehow I doubt we will hear from you when your passes arrive...

Second, you still aren't outside the window of time it took everyone else to get their passes. So, I know you don't love it, but calm down, you're not having a unique experience.
That said, ok, so you love Chase and AMEX service. Chase and ESPECIALLY AMEX also kill good deals flat dead the instant they want to. Look at the 75k MR offers that all last about 10 seconds. Citi leaves out a two-year-old offer which nets you enough miles for round trip business class to just about anywhere on earth and are you're still hung up on the AC passes and lack of promptness?

Besides, what is the big deal of AC passes? You get a free beer or cheap wine or soda/naked juice, some salty miniature pretzels... that is all the AC offers. Does this worth so much effort / time to chase them down?

Besides, the Citi offers you applied for, have officially expired for over 2 years. So what is your complaint? Just be thankful you can still exploit it and get your 50K multiple times.
Fly business class, on AA's partners, you will get all the lounge access you can based on the class of service, and who would need the AC passes then?
If you truly fly business class all the time, you should have known that the AC is nothing to be upset about. Seriously.
As for AMEX or Chase, they are no better than Citi, in light of letting you applying an offer that officially expired years ago and still let you receive the bonus. Go find such offers with AMEX and Chase and let the thread know. That would be far more constructive than huffing and puffing over 2 pairs of AC passes that Citi owe you.
